[Samba] Unable to access Samba Domain Member

2004-02-26 Thread Nicholas Fechner
Hi,
I'm trying to connect to a Samba Domain Member, but I always end up with
the same strange error.
The PDC (authenticating againt LDAP) and the server itself (Lobo) are
Samba 3.0.2a-1 (Debian). I first
tried to connect from my Windows client. It gave me the following error:
\\Lobo is not accessible. The specified network name is no longer
available.

When connecting via smbclient I get:
xyz:~# smbclient -U nfechner lobo\\software\\
Password:
session setup failed: Call returned zero bytes (EOF)
With Log Level 3, I always get the same error message:

Dear all,
Who knows how to include sambaAccount to my current LDAP database
without re-creation of LDAP entries ? Any tool/software suggested/needed?

anthony

Hi Anthony,
try phpldapadmin (http://phpldapadmin.sourceforge.net/).
We use it for our complete LDAP Administration and it
works pretty cool.

Re: [Samba] Samba with Posix ACL support

2003-11-25 Thread Nicholas Fechner
  -Original Message-
  From: Pirkka Luukkonen [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Has anyone got any success story or any good advice of
  using Posix ACLs
(or Enhanced Attributes) with Samba? I'm using Debian woody
  with 2.4.22
  linux, ext3fs and Samba 3.

I've been playing with this on Debian Woody, with an eye towards
 eventually
replacing our RedHat 7.0 server. Unfortunately the stuff on
 bestbits.at is
 a touch RedHat-centric at times.

Patching and compiling the kernel works just like it does under RedHat, of
course. The libacl, acl, libacl-devel, libattr, attr, and libattr-devel
RPMs from bestbits install cleanly with alien. Samba compiles fine with
ACL support and winbind if you do ./configure --with-acl-support
--with-winbind. The only thing I haven't figured out yet is coreutils.
*Don't* try to use the coreutils RPM from bestbits; it will break a Debian
 system.

Fortunately for my application ACL support in coreutils isn't strictly
 necessary.

Hi,
try http://homex.subnet.at/~max/fs/ext23_acl.php
Or use XFS :-)

[Samba] Understanding of SID generation

2003-11-25 Thread Nicholas Fechner
Hi,
can anyone point me to a good source on how to
generate correct SIDs for our users? We store
them in LDAP using Samba 3.0 on Debian/unstable.
Tnx in advance, Nicholas
