[Samba] Access problem (ERRnoaccess) on samba 2.0.9 and 2.2.2

Title: Access problem (ERRnoaccess) on samba 2.0.9 and 2.2.2

Hello! I have a problem I cant seem to solve by myself. I need to map a share on a w2k server machine for distributing some MRTG .png graph files. Suddenly my mapping did not work any more. Example:

mount –t smbfs –o username=mrtg,password=gtrm //webserver/mrtg$ /mnt/webserver

This fails with an error similar to this:

session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)

I thought it might be a password problem so I reset the password on the w2k machine, and I also tried from another Linux box that I use for something else. On that machine everything worked, so I was sure the share name was OK, and the credentials were also ok. Info: the user is local on the w2k box, but it’s a member of a domain… samba is not a member of this domain!

Then: I uninstalled all my samba and reverted to a 2.0.9 version that was prebuilt and known to work. When I installed it I tried to connect to webserver with smbclient with: “smbclient //webserver/mrtg$ -U mrtg” and when I provided the password everything worked. Then I tried to mount, but had forgotten to conf. my smb.conf file. When I had done so I tried to mount the share but with the same error as above. So ….. now… when I tried smbmount again it did not work! ☺ Here is a screen dump:

root@itech:/mnt# smbclient //webserver/mrtg$ -U mrtg

added interface ip=217.199.39.142 bcast=217.199.39.191 nmask=255.255.255.192

Got a positive name query response from 10.25.0.12 ( 217.199.39.143 )

Password:

session setup failed: ERRDOS - ERRnoaccess (Access denied.)

If I delete the smb.conf, it works… copy it back and it stops working! I have attached my smb.conf … hope you can help!

[Samba] Wins server replication.

Can I use Samba as my primary WINS server and make it
replicate with Windows WINS servers? Or maybe as a last resort, can Samba NMBD
replicate between multiple NMBD servers?

RE: [Samba] Kernel-question 2.2

2002-04-24 Thread Stian B. Barmen

Samba is not depended on kernel version. The 2.2 kernel is stable and
excellent for Samba!

RE: [Samba] Windows XP guest problem

2002-04-24 Thread Stian B. Barmen

Tjenare! :)

I think one way to fix this is to use the Map Network Drive.. which
you find when you right click My Computer. Here you can specify the
UNC path to you're samba server and then specify a valid
username/password.

This problem is a Windows XP feature and has nothing to do with Samba.

Another way to solve this is to add you're Windows XP machine to a
domain and log on with a user that has the appropriate security
credentials.

[Samba] Winbindd + PAM - Default domain config.

2002-04-22 Thread Stian B. Barmen

Hi!

I am using Winbindd on a Mandrake
8.2 Linux distribution, and everything works like described in docs, like for
example: http://de.samba.org/samba/ftp/docs/htmldocs/winbind.html

The problem is that I want to
specify a default domain so that I don't have to type in "DOMAIN\user" as a
username when logging on to the machine. Anyone got any ideas on getting default
domain to work??

Samba version 2.2.3a.
