SQL Developer



Willing to interview junior level candidates that can demonstrate hard work
and fast learning.


• *5+ years of experience as an ETL Developer using Microsoft SQL Server*
• SSIS experience (5+ years) experience with DTS Package experience a plus
• Database Migration (Development through Production)
• Back up and replication
• Ensure that new database code meets company standards for readability,
reliability, and performance
• Each week, give developers a list of the top 10 most resource-intensive
queries on the server and suggest ways to improve performance on each
• Design indexes for existing applications, choosing when to add or remove
indexes
• Assist developers to improve the performance of queries by tweaking it or
modifying indexes
• Advise developers on the most efficient database designs (tables,
datatypes, stored procedures, functions, etc)
• Able to perform light DBA functions with user management, performance
tuning, new database designs and troubleshooting.

To do a great job in this position, experience should include:

• Writing and improving SQL Server T-SQL queries for at least 5 years. You
may have technically had “C# Developer” on your job title, but you were
known amongst the office as the go-to person for T-SQL questions.
• Experience with BulkInsert,
• Experience with XML Datatypes and CLR Integration
• Designing tables and picking datatypes
• Using Profiler traces and other tools to find the most frequently run
queries
• Experience using TFS

Soft Skills:
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Excellent troubleshooting skills. Need to be able to understand data
flows and get to the root of problems without major instruction.
• Excellent team member. Need to work well with teams to enhance their
development effectiveness.

Education:
• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent technical experience is required

developer is a critical role in our organization.  This person will do
hands-on design and development on our new flagship product.  This is a

The role requires a great SQL Server developer who enjoys leading the way
in both technology and understanding the business.  It requires someone who

*Responsibilities*

   - Write and troubleshoot complex code for SQL Server 2014+
   - Design, create, and enhance stored procedures, triggers and database
   schemas
   - Generate reports to be consumed by internal applications and reporting
   tools
   - Design, develop and enhance daily/nightly data processing tasks
   - Work with the software development team on application-specific
   database needs
   - Develop and test new SSIS/SSRS packages to meet business needs
   - Handle requests for data import and export
   - Maintain and enhance our existing data imports, exports, and reports
   - Improve the overall quality of our data and reports
   - Automate multi-database script deployment and versioning
   - Troubleshoot and optimize database performance

*Our ideal candidate*

   - A minimum of seven (7) years of hands-on experience with database
   development
   - A minimum of five (5) years development on SQL Server
   - Expert Level SQL Skills creating Stored Procedures, functions,
   triggers, and views.
   - Bachelor’s degree in Technology/Computer Science or a related
   technical discipline required or the equivalent work experience
   - Ability to create normalized/de-normalized database schemas.
   - Demonstrated ability to implement/troubleshoot backup solutions and
   database security, User management, data Maintenance tasks
   - Knowledge of database design principles, index management, integrity
   checks, statistics and Isolation Levels.
   - Experience building nightly processing and operations on large
   datasets is preferred.
   - Demonstrated ability in performance tuning, query optimization using
   SQL Server native tools (DTA, Profiler, and System Stored Procs, DMV's,
   DMF's).
   - Experience in code migration, database change management and data
   management through the various stages of the development life cycle required
   - Must demonstrate an understanding of logical and physical database
   modeling concepts
   - Ability to perform ETL operations/reporting from multiple sources
   including internal, external using Microsoft BI Tools (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS)
   would be a plus
   - Scripting experience is strongly preferred
   - Experience working with large data sets would be a plus
   - Financial services or market knowledge a plus
   - Recent Experience with SQL Server 2012/2014.
   - Familiar with .net, XML, APIs and JSON would be a plus.

The primary purpose of this position is to develop database systems
solutions and associated

technical services designed to support client business objectives through
advanced data analysis,

modeling and management.



*Job Summary:*

• Work with Technical Team Lead and clients to define program requirements

• Building and maintaining SQL scripts in Microsoft SQL Server 2008+.

• Building and maintaining SSIS packages.

• Building and maintaining production SQL jobs.

• Building and maintaining complex SQL queries for data analysis and data
extract.

• Building and maintaining data mart extraction processes.

• Building and maintaining database installation scripts.



*Job Skills:*

• Programming with SQL Server 2008+, SQL stored procedures, user defined
functions, cursors and query batches.

• Database design, development and management

• Data modeling

• Defining problems, collecting data, establishing facts, and drawing valid
conclusions

• Analysing business processes and performing in-depth work analyses

• Interfacing with end-users or clients



*Other Skills:*

• Excellent prioritization and organization skills including ability to
establish priorities independently and motivation

• Strong self-initiative

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team
environment

• Clear communication skills



*Education and Experience:*

Up to date on SQL skills:

SharePoint and .Net development experience is a plus
Demonstrated strong knowledge and proficiency in the following
methodologies and concepts:
