approval, to resolve all issues and problems encountered with testing to
ensure the applications perform as required.

8.Design, develop, execute and maintain automated test scripts.

9.Perform, maintain, create and execute load tests on
applications as needed based on defined processes

Expert COGNOS ADMINISTRATOR. BWC is in the process of rebuilding our data
warehouse and replacing our business intelligence reporting tools in
conjunction with our implementation of Stone River's PowerSuite application
agency-wide. We are moving from a DB2/OEPM (Hyperion) data warehouse to an
Oracle/HP Vertica Cognos data warehouse. We need a consultant who is a
Cognos Administrator who has set up a large organization with a
multi-environment Cognos Server Infrastructure before. Consultant should
also be familiar with setting up and maintaining Active Directory security
for Cognos and with maintaining best-practices for administration of the
security. Candidate must possess strong communication skills in addition to
proven experience in performing assignment responsibilities. BWC is
planning a 1,500-query user implementation, with about 100 report
developers. In the current data warehouse, client has about 600 tables,
including about 300 code tables. These tables are made available to data
warehouse users in about 50 data models. The largest tables contain over 20
years of history and exceed 100 million records. The current reporting tool
includes about 2,000 reports in 400 documents. BWC will rebuild about 4,500
existing reports in Cognos.



*Assignment Responsibilities *

· BWC expects the work of the consultant to be done on-site

· Must be capable of installing, configuring, updating and tuning
Cognos architecture that is distributed over multiple servers in multiple
environments, for both hardware and software level.

· Work with BWC staff providing mentoring and knowledge transfer to
them as they learn to correctly do this work on their own.

· Assist in verifying that BWC is on the right infrastructure
foundation and that it is tuned for optimal performance.

· Recommend how to more efficiently create and execute complex
reports created in both Report Studio and Query Studio.

· Recommend/maintain strategy for efficient migration of objects
(models*I*reports*I*etc) through multiple environments from development to
production.

· Utilize extensive broad Cognos experience in helping to determine
which Cognos tools will best support BWC's future business requirements.

The Program Manager (PM) designs, plans, and coordinates work teams.
Provides technical support to project team members. Handles complex
application features and technical designs. Designs and implements the
components required for complex application features. Generally manages a
group of applications systems analysts. Relies on experience and judgment

Most of the projects at ABD will be related to warehouse management or
operations.  They recently implemented Microsoft Dynamics AX as an ERP.
Phase 1 is complete but there are more phases to be determined.  They just
kicked off a licensing application to issue licenses and permits to stores,
bars and restaurants.   They are also doing a voice picker system that
relates to warehouse operations.



A background in operation or manufacturing type environments will be more
beneficial to this position.  A PM who has experience with 3rd party
application integration would be a plus.

*Project Current State*

Our current BI and Data Warehouse team is using Cognos 10.2 for reporting
and Cognos Data Manager for ETL.  We currently provide reporting and data
services for a few business areas at Ohio Department of Health.  Our
current Data Warehouse database is on SQL Server platform.

We are a growing team and are looking for a DataStage and ETL developer to
help us with our projects.



*Project Future State*

In the near future, we will be moving to Cognos Analytics (v11) for
reporting and IBM DataStage for ETL.  We will begin to service all business
areas within the Ohio Department of Health.  One of the main goals is to
provide business areas with the tools they need to monitor performance and
create their own reports as needed.  Project deliverables will include
multi-tab dashboards in Cognos along with self-serve data models in
Cognos.  The data used to feed the dashboard reports needs to be optimized
so that it can be run quickly and also be reused for future reporting and
end-user self-service needs.  For this reason, strong SQL skills are
required.



*Data Manager to DataStage Migration *

The current ETL tool being used is Cognos Data Manager.  This tool has been
in place for ten years here at Ohio Department of Health.  This tool is
being phased out by IBM and support for this product is ending soon.  For
this reason, we have been looking for a different ETL tool.  After
researching many options we have selected IBM’s DataStage as our new ETL
tool.  One of the benefits of using IBM’s DataStage is that we will be able
to utilize their conversion tool, which automatically converts existing
Cognos Data Manager jobs to DataStage.  This tool should do most of the
work, though some manual changes will most likely be required.  Cognos Data
Manager experience is preferred, though DataStage experience is required.
The ideal candidate will have experience migrating from one ETL tool to IBM
DataStage.  Install and configure the new DataStage environment, utilizing
best practices.  Enhance migrated jobs in DataStage in order to take
advantage of

Position Description:

Expert Cognos Resource. This person will not write reports; but will help
BWC determine how to set up Cognos with our Oracle data warehouse. BWC is
planning a 1,500-query user implementation, with about 100 report
developers. In the current data warehouse, BWC has about 600 tables,
including about 300 code tables. These tables are made available to data
warehouse users in about 50 data models. The largest tables contain over 20
years of history and exceed 100 million records. The current reporting tool
includes about 2,000 reports in 400 documents. BWC will rebuild about 4,500
existing reports in Cognos.

Assignment Responsibilities:

• Suggest the best time to set up data marts, cubes, and
dashboards (before go-live or after), given constraints on scope,
resources, time, and quality.

• Work with BWC staff on these topics and provide on the job
training and mentoring to them, both teaching BWC staff and coaching them
as they do this work on their own.

• Make sure BWC is on the right foundation and sets up data
marts, cubes, etc. appropriate to most effectively and efficiently meet
business requirements, recommend how to set up security, how to deploy
reports, how to more efficiently run reports, do tuning and indexing, etc.

• BWC expects the work of the consultant to be done on-site

• Would be available for other questions as needed about
security and architecture. –Position requires 40 hours a week. Consultant
will help define and also coach

• Determine which Cognos tools will best support BWC's business
requirements.

• Set up and manage Cognos security at all levels.

The Data Architect will be responsible for establishing Policy, Standards,
and Practices for Data Governance, Classification, Inventory, OpenData and
Inter-Agency Sharing MOUs. Additionally, the Data Architect will oversee
Data Cleansing, modelling and ETL between the 27+ legacy systems to the
upcoming Enterprise Solution for MGCB.



The Data Architect will also be responsible for architecting data
modernization, ensuring that Master Data and Core Data are defined from a
business and technical perspective.  Working with the customer Chief Data
Steward and program data stewards, the Data Architect will also be
responsible for establishing best practices for Data Governance and
building the customer-centric data glossary and change management workflows
using standard data governance tools such as IBM InfoSphere Data
Governance.



The Data Architect will also be expected to work with the Enterprise
Solution vendor to design Business Intelligence solutions based on the
vendor's data models and BI solutions OR standard the state standard
enterprise BI solution - Business Objects 4.1.  The Data Architect will
assist the customer and technical teams to establish an enterprise BI
portal using best practices and standard BI tools.



Ideal candidates will have a highly technical data background, but will
have moved into a data-centric functional architect role and must have
experience architecting LARGE data environments. Excellent customer
communication skills are critical for this position.



This position works directly with Deputy Directors, the Chief Data Steward,
Program Data Stewards – all customer staff. Therefore, excellent
communication skills and customer-facing experience are critical for all
candidates submitted to this position.   On the technical side, they will
work closely with the agency’s DBAs, Enterprise Architects and Application
Architects.  The soft skills are as important as the hard skills to be
considered for this role.



MGCB is currently evaluating their options for this new enterprise
solution. Currently, they run about 95% of their systems on Oracle 11g, and
have one very small system running on SQL Server 2008 r2. Systems are based
on Windows and Unix-Solaris operating systems.
