Required skills:

•  Installation of Linux OS (RHEL 5,6,7 or CentOS 5,6,7) on
physical servers

•  Configuration and hardening of Linux (RHEL) as per the
organization standards

•  Hands on experience installation and configuration of HA
environment using VERITAS Cluster

•  Experienced in VERITAS Volume Manager Administration,
VERITAS Clusters administration, RHEL cluster Management

•  Experience in kickstart installation / troubleshooting and
backup tool management

•  Highly skilled Shell scripting in Linux

•  Good knowledge of Oracle Real Application Cluster builds
from the OS standpoint

•  Addition/deletion of disks from the OS layer for Oracle RAC

•  Good knowledge on troubleshooting of OS layer issues on
physical and virtual machines

•  Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of experience with Red Hat
Linux operating systems

•  Enterprise server management experience.

•  Deep knowledge of industry-standard, enterprise-class best
practices for a large server environment.

•  TCP/IP knowledge

•  Provide the root cause analysis on the major
incidents/problem

•  Carry out scheduled activities like Patch management and log
file rotation

•  Should be able to lead the subordinates on technical Issues

•  Experience with any of the following; Dell, IBM and HP
Enterprise class servers





Job Description:

•  Knowledgeable, creative, hardworking individual to provide
exceptional customer service in a fast-paced operations environment
supporting a 24x7x365 mission critical Linux environment

•  Responsible for day-to-day operational maintenance, support,
OS installations and upgrades for enterprise servers

•  Monitor and tune systems to achieve optimum performance
levels

•  On call support might be required to address major incidents
or pre-planned maintenance on production systems

We are still looking for a stong Linux / Veritas engineer. They need to be
able to do well on an online Unix assessment and have extensive details on
the resume of all the work with Veritas



Specifically Veritas Cluster Server, storage management, implementations,
upgrades, versions used



If anyone comes to mind please let me know. This has been out for a while so
some may have been contacted previously. The candidates have to take an
online IKM assessment for this role. Fairly flexible on money depending on
the experience of the candidate.



Global commodities and wholesale energy marketing company in Houston need
multiple UNIX systems engineers to participate on multiple project
initiatives related to their global systems environment (approx. 2,300+ UNIX
based servers).  These positions will be part of a team that provides
technical support for the company’s global commodity trading, banking and
financial investment business operations.  These positions will also
participate on multiple projects including designing and implementing new
server environments for new facilities, rebuilding and deploying new servers
to support asset retirement, and evaluating new technologies related to
supporting mission critical, high availability environments.



Skills and experience



· 10+ years UNIX systems administration experience

· 5+ years Red Hat Linux experience including experience with
Jumpstart and Kickstart

· Preferred Sun Solaris experience

· Experience with server builds and configuration

· Experience with systems monitoring and performance management

· Experience with Veritas Cluster Server and related technologies

· Experience with SAN and storage management related technologies,
preferably EMC and Veritas

· Experience with DR/BCP

· Experience with capacity planning
