Lead VMWare Engineer


Client is seeking a VMware Certified professional (VCP) to upgrade o VMware
environment from VMware ESX 3.5 to VMware vSphere 4.1, vCenter server 4.1.
The candidate must possess a strong skill set in VMware technologies, SAN
technologies; should also have strong experience with networking
technologies.



Tasks:

· Upgrade VMware Management console from 3.5 to vCenter Server 4.1

· Install and configure VMware 4.1 on thee Dell R815 servers and join them
to the cluster.

· Upgrade seven existing servers to VMware 4.1and join them to the cluster

· Configure HA and DRS

· Prepare upgrade documentation and hand over to FEP Operations Center at
the end of the contract.



*Skills –*

Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Ability to lead
other team members. The candidate has demonstrated a VMware upgrade from 3.5
to 4.1.

Candidate must also possess a working knowledge of networking technologies.
Experienced oral and written communication skills a must



College or vocational/technical degree; Certification in VMware (VCP
minimum) 5+ years of VMware ESX hands on experience, 3+ years Storage Area
Network (SAN) experience.



Interpret new, complex technologies and how these new technologies can be
leveraged to benefit the department’s new business strategies and
initiatives.

2. Clariion and Celerra

3. MS SQL 2000/2003/2008

Description:



Designing and implementing complex technical solutions in support of all
divisional business units in the areas of server and workstation
virtualization, database administration and system architecture:



- Support and implement VMWare server environment

- Configure and deploy Citrix solutions

- Work with DBAs to improve database capabilities including monitoring

- Evaluate and improve existing NetApp storage infrastructure

- Evaluate new technologies for implementation.



Significant work experience designing enterprise class solutions in the
areas of virtualization, storage and databases



- Expert knowledge in VMWare, Citrix and Oracle DBMS required - In depth
experience with storage technologies, specifically NetApp filers

- Strong UNIX and Windows server and client experience

- Extensive understanding of a broad range of information technology,
including networking, servers and client deployment, including mobility
devices

- Strong knowledge of software development practices and methodologies

- Programming experience in ASP, .NET or Java

- Apple iPhone application development experience a plus

- Experience with vendor management (both service and product vendors)
needed

- Ability to investigate new technologies, quickly adapt them to the
business need and deploy to maximum business benefit

- Demonstrated ability to interpret business requirements and deliver
solutions using the latest technologies

- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills a must

- Strong business and customer orientation skills

- Excellent spoken and written communication skills in English is required

- Knowledge of Computer Systems Validation, particularly in pharmaceutical
environment

- Understanding of GxP standards and FDA’s 21 CFR p11 requirements
