  I was about to ask you which email program that you use, but then I saw 
your email address and that answered my question. You can't really trust 
microsoft for anything important like spell checking even with their email 
program. I use gmail.

  I know a few people that have sold music promoting themselves. They are 
not rich from it, but it does supplement their income well. A few others went 
on to become big. (like Metallica for example.)  But I think that is a 
different set of circumstances than selling books. 




There is still no other way to make real money without playing the game of 
having the right publisher, artwork, looks etc. I have read books and wonder 
how they got published. (same for music and movies) Typos, bad grammar that 
wasn't part of the dialog etc. were there.

to be comfortable. 

Self publishing is an alternative but it takes a lot more work for the person 
doing it. No advances, you must make your own promotional dates etc. It is 
possible to sell 10,000 books and make the same money though.

I have spellchecker programs on all of my e-mail accounts, and I've seen them
