SD For Sale: 1984 Dodge Rampage Ramlet T2 555 SMEC
I lost interest in the project.. I'll include EVERYTHING I have thats related with the truck.. heres a list of what will come with the truck.. All of these parts other than suspension are not installed.. all was geared up for T2 setup.. I just dont have to time and I've lost interest in it. 1985 T1 block, rebuilt G head with 1mm oversized SS valves, srt lash adjusters/lifters, 88 turbo roller cam swap, ported exhaust manafold drilled for egt.. 1 piece T2 intake powdercoated candy blue along with an 89+ one piece gasket design turbo valve cover matched to intake... T2 turbo, rebuilt, balanced, quick spool option with 3 swing valve (hasn't been installed sence I got it back) custom painted T2 airbox to match intake and valve cover, .. also painted the a/c delete bracket to match... Engine has 22K on it sence rebuild and was sourced from a 85 Daytona Turbo Z that was jumped (ran off the road) and frame tweeked.. right rear tire was hardly touching the ground.. bought it for the engine doner, sold parts dirt cheap to G body friends for a few bucks and Dr Pepper.. engine had great compression and that's why I bought it.. made a solid 7psi as a log t1 auto.. Custom built by Cliff Ramsdell 555 Getrag with 3.50fd, cromoly end plate, T trak posi, ect.. Still new in the crate he shipped it to me and signed by the man himself.. Paid about $1000 for it.. brand new in box Shelby Charger gas tank.. TBI fuel pump hanger (same as GLHS) It has 2 grey seats, just need cleaning.. About the only thing I dont have for it are the seatbelts and the carpeting.. It has a clean title, not salvaged.. 3 dashboards one grey in flawless condition one grey on so so condition with all associated wiring connected and uncut.. one burgandy (orignal to the rampage) non a/c vehicle... truck has a few special extras over stock. It has a real set of Direct Connection side skirts and after skirts Has Direct Connection front air dam (just like Tourismo 2.2) Cowl induction hood scoop from older Rampage 2.2 Koni Adjustable coilovers up front with Eibach springs.. In the rear.. Koni adjustable shocks, _www.Polybushings.com_ (_http://www.polybushings.com/_ (http://www.polybushings.com/) ) rear anti sway bar.. I also have a box with just about every polybushing available for the Rampage that's not installed yet... Its been converted to 5x100mm using parts from a 1987 Shelby Charger.. Has 15x6.5 Daytona Crab wheels painted black wrapped in Falken Azenis with very little use on them sence new 1988 SMEC wiring harness from 88 LeBaron complete with no cut or burnt fusible links.. Just needs a little cleaning and rewiring for the firewall plug.. has most sensors still atached to it, relays, ect.. I have the orignal Rampage wiring harness in a box.. Shadow 520 shifter and cables for 555 conversion, stock shifter location has been sealed up.. a tiny bit of rust was under the drivers side windsheild trim and it was repaired.. then the glass was installed.. brand new ppg windsheild.. No other rust.. California car.. 6 bolt turbo flywheel (needs resurfacing) Mopar 6 bolt flywheel attachment package Turbos Unleashed T2/T3 hybrid clutch with throw out bearing (new in box) About the only thing you would need is a fuel pump and some time.. I don't have any time for this and I dont want to leave it while im living half way across the country.. I'm sure I've left a bunch of things out.. This would need to be picked up.. not drivable.. I also wanted to add that the 17 wheels and tires with less than 500 miles on em mite be included too if the offer is right heres a list of what everythings worth.. Heres a listing of just some of the parts that come with the truck.. Transmission-paid about $950 Cliff Ramsdell built.. this is a Getrag 555 from a Shelby Daytona, it has a 3:50fd vs the 3:85's the GL has so it'll be freeway friendly at normal speeds without winding it up... It has the cromoly endplate (twice as thick as the stock steel plate) with a T-Trac posi unit with the anti pin backout ears and its been completely rebuilt.. $800 paid $400 for doner car that had the rebuilt engine, they showed me the reciept, I called the place the next day and they confirmed the milage the car was at when they did the work.. - (paid 400ish for the head setup) SS 1mm oversize valves bought at _www.fwdperformance.com_ (http://www.fwdperformance.com/) , roller cam/roller rockers from a friend back east from his running wrecked car, SRT4 lifters bought from The Pope on TurboDodge.com a.k.a

In a message dated 3/8/2007 4:49:45 PM Pacific Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Hey Chris, I was trying to find my first post and I stumbled on this posting by you. Of all ones to bump in to. I remember reading it a hundred years ago very well. Yeah, thats was a long time ago, 1997 or 1999 era. That was when I wrecked my 84 DC Rampage at the street races.. I just got done racing a 5.0 Ford Explorer (none of the other cars wanted to race the funky lookin truck) I took him and I was slowing down when I was right at about 45mph, thats when the guy jumped in front of me. The guy was parked on the right side of the street parked facing traffic with his wheel cut to the right.. He either popped the clutch or stalled it and it jumped in front of me while I was at 45mph.. It was so fast I didn't even have the time to hit the brake, we collided.. My body flew forward, the seatbelt locked just enough for my head to fly forward enough to only tickle my nose on the steering wheel.. When I whipped back, my glasses flew off my face onto the dash board just as the detachable face of my stereo popped off and bonked me on the forehead LOL The guy was pretty drunk and his car got smacked hard..He wasn't really feeling anything tho. The engine of his Civic was under the car just under the floor board..(drivers seat) and his airbag never deployed.. Damage for damage, the Rampage did exceptionally well.. The frame on the DC was toast, It was so bad that there was a wrinkle on the roof near the windsheild.. I removed the pizza wheels, ground effects package, direct connection valve cover and crome air cleaner.. Soon after that I found a 87 GLHS and played with that a while, took my time and built it up a bit.. got board of it soon after I got it back on the road and went back with the Rampage trucks to the one I have now The Ramlet Theres just something about these L trucks that ya can't get from an L coupe or sedan hatch.. My first question was for my 82 Rampage.. I has a mystery front end squeek, turned out to be the front sway bar bushings simply being dry.. I'll never forgot that one because the late great Gus Mahon was the first person to give me the heads up :) Just thought I'd share sence we seem to be getting nostalgic and all;) Do we have archives that go back to 1997 (I believe thats when I first signed up?!?) wow, 10 years? jeez.. anywho.. thanks.. Re: SD Speedo inop 89 Lebaron
In a message dated 9/7/2006 11:45:34 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, [EMAIL PROTECTED] writes: Mike, I'm guessing from your post, you haven't worked on a speedo issue on the FWD Mopars. I'm not sure what you are referring to as a speedometer head. The most common problem and usually the cause of the symptoms you described is a bad distance sensor. This is the black electrical sensor with a plug in the extension on the back of the transaxle. It can only be seen from under the car. It has a simple two wire connector and is held in place by a 10mm bolt if memory serves. It magnetically reads a signal as the shaft spins and that voltage is translated by the SBEC in your car to a reading to the speedometer. If you check the codes using the three times ON-OFF method, the car will probably show a code 15. A short in the wires from this connector could also cause a problem. Since you are experiencing a problem with both the speedometer and the odometer, I would bet the distance sensor is the cause of the problem. Another test is if the cruise control if equipped doesn't work. LeBarons and Daytonas are known to develop problems with the odometer portion of the gauge cluster but the speedometer usually still works fine. I doubt that is the problem. Good Luck! - John M. Fleck Kokomo, IN Wouldn't a 89 Daytona be a SMEC? Didn't SBEC start in 90? I don't remember. I remember seeing both electronic speedos and cable speedos in some of the cars of the same year.. SD Water pump difference?
I have my 84 Rampages original water pump housing, its really corroded out badly at the bottom out/inlet I have a 85 Daytona Turbo Z housing in great condition, but noticed a difference between the two.. The Rampage housing is identical to the 85 Daytona Turbo Z's except it has an extension molded into the housing design that reduces it down to a smaller dia.. It looks like If I were to use a hack saw and cut off that extension, it would be the exact same as the 85 Daytona Turbo Z's housing.. I plan on running a Shelby Charger style coolent style system to make replacment stuff easy to deal with, but are the hoses on the Shelby Chargers pump housing larger than the carburated coolent systems housing? Are the hose diametors the same for the housing as 85 Daytona Turbo Z's vs the Shelby Chargers? (hoses are specific designs, got that covered) heres a picture to show what im talkin about.. The clean housing is the rampage version.. hope this works.. _http://www.customtacos.com/gallery2/data/500/water_pump_difference.jpg_ (http://www.customtacos.com/gallery2/data/500/water_pump_difference.jpg) thanks Chris Pauluk - Modesto CA. - 1984 Rampage Ramlet _www.cardomain.com/id/solo2rampage_ (http://www.cardomain.com/id/solo2rampage) ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? SD Need some pointers..
I was recentally talkin to my brother about dropping my head off at a local machine shop for a basic rebuild.. He said the place that the dealership sends it work to does TOP NOTCH work.. So he said for me to stop by the next day and he'd call em as soon as the head service writer or whatever was in to get the # For some reason, I desided to bring the head with me and it paid off.. He called em when I got there.. he got it all setup. Its a totally repuatable shop from everyone ive talked to in the performance car world in this area.. After he got off the phone.. He said the guy said that You guys send so much work our way, and sence your a great customer..150 and we'll do ANYTHING YA WANT! port, polish, larger valves, ect and still be smogable.. I then told him that smog isnt an issue with my vehicle and he went, Excellent, that's way easier.. So I said cool and drove to drop it off.. They said they had to check and go through the head first before they do anything to make sure it was good to use for a buildup.. I told em it was pulled off of a perfect running car with no over heating issues (85 turbo Z)G head? anyways.. He said to call back Monday (tomorrow) to see how the tests went and then he'd go over all the options for its build up.. I told him I wanted to swap over to a roller cam setup and that I had no idea Id be doin it this soon..Luckily I found a super low milage 88 Shadow ES turbo roller and roller rockers in excellent condition for the swap :) He also mentioned to bring in my intake and exhaust manafold and turbo as well for gasket matching.. So what it all comes down too.. What should I ask for? I was orignally goin for a basic rebuild, nothing fancy.. but this I couldn't pass up.. thanks.. SD cams
Im using a 85 turbo z engine with t2 stuff for my build up for now.. Ive got a smokin deal in the works for a rebuilt head (mild porting, deshrouding, 3 angle valves, ect..) its a slider cam square tooth sprocket setup.. Id like to swap to a roller cam in because I did this in my 87 GLHS with great results. 88 TBI cam, retarded 4 degrees, it ran a 15.2 @ 7psi (bad actuator) with a 555 with 3.85's It had a stage 2 computer, any 1/4 mile number estimates at 14 pounds of boost? anywho.. Could I simply swap in a 88 turbo cam and rollers and be good to go? I'm trying to avoid spending extra coin on this engine setup when it comes to an adjustable cam gear.. Id mite consider a tbi cam, but I'm not sure if id have to screw with retarding the cam and using keyways.. I just want a simple bolt up and go and just be able to set timing without messin around.. 88 2.2 roller turbo cam setup? Im not sure whats what when it comes to cams, but the turbo Z slider setup has to go.. Id like a smooth idol and acceleration that I slightly noticed with my old GLHS's buildup.. also I read something on the dodge garage about the heads lubricating slots.. I dont think this would be a problem, but it had me thinkin about how many people ive heard runnin sliders on roller heads.. _http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_camshaft.html_ (http://www.thedodgegarage.com/turbo_camshaft.html) any info would be great.. thanks Chris Pauluk - Modesto CA. - 1984 Rampage Ramlet _www.cardomain.com/id/solo2rampage_ (http://www.cardomain.com/id/solo2rampage) ---REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING Questions? Re: SD wheel name
The T2 GTS LeBarons wheels that were somewhat a dark color that ive seen mostly on the 4 door LeBaron styles that came in that dark maroon color.. the wheels look great on just about anything ya put em on..That and the wheel color ment ya didn't have to constantly detail them ;)I think the popular ones are the curved faced ones.. Re: SD wheel name
Before I went with the daytona crab wheels, I was takin a good look at those black lace wheels for the Ramlet too.. I couldn't find any in nice condition and a set of dam nice crab wheels poped up, so I figured id just paint the grey to black and keep the polished lip.. Im happy with that as well.. _http://www.customtacos.com/gallery2/data/500/cowlhood_flatblack.jpg_ (http://www.customtacos.com/gallery2/data/500/cowlhood_flatblack.jpg) :) Chris Pauluk - Modesto CA. - 1984 Rampage Ramlet _www.cardomain.com/id/solo2rampage_ (http://www.cardomain.com/id/solo2rampage) In a message dated 1/14/2006 9:22:21 A.M. He was talking about the ones that were painted gold and had a more Gothic style like the grill-work in an old church window. You're right about how good those dark ones look. Although I pulled mine off my White/White GTC Convert for some white 16 inch pumpers. (The CS Pumpers look great on the GTC) The Dark 16 inch lace looked Awesome on my Black 90 Shelby Daytona. It really gave it a touch of class. I never put the whole set on, but what was there looked great. I thought it would have looked good on the 86 shelby Charger too. The first Shelby Charger I ever test drove had some Black Lace style wheels on it. This was an 87 Black/Silver SC, back in 1988. I don't know for sure what they were off of since I wasn't in to the whole Shelby thing at the time, but may have been (possibly) 87 Shelby Lancer wheels. That was a nice car. I was going to wait till I get a new battery for it next week, but I figured I'd ask the list. When I turn the key, the fuel pump primes, the dash lights up, then I push the key to the start position, and it dies. Everything shuts down. Of course I can't pull any codes, But I learned if I disconnect the battery, It will allow me to get power to everything, but again shuts down if I try to start it. Anyone have any ideas? Bad ground? Bad Computer? Whack job backyard mechanic being stupid forgetting something? sounds like a dead battery to me.. are your headlights super dim?
