SD 1986 GLHS #212 Rochester, MN
There are so many things refreshed in the car.. I'm sure I'll miss some. Pretty much everything is new except for the engine bottom end. (short block) is original. New paint, carpet, headliner, clutch, engine computer converted to 87 turbo II stage II, Wheels are very nice and I have a 5th spare Shelby wheel.. The power steering rack leaks. About 1/2 cup fluid a year. I have all new parts for that. Pump, hoses and the correct ratio rack. All new parts. I also have a spare transmission (used). It also has the SLH (stops like hell) mod. I also replace the shifter bushings with oillite bearings.. I have a bunch of used spare parts but the car has been bullet proof for maybe 5 years. Doing the Power Tours rang out many systems.. When I was restoring it I put dyno mat on most surfaces to dampen the tinniness. I install a Rosta cruise for those long drives while on the Power Tour. The car will pull about 94mph in a 1/4 with street tires. The car is about as stock as possible short of what I've listed.. http://www.joefishburn.com/omni.html ___REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING_ ShelbyDodge mailing list ShelbyDodge@imagilist.com http://www.imagilist.com/mailman/listinfo/shelbydodge

I've just sent you pictures of the heater vacuum lines.. You should be able to reconnect them with the pix.. Let me how it goes.. That vacuum connector just crumbles away and your right about the color coded lines.. No way could you figure it out.. I just used short length of vacuum hose to replace that connector.. My heater works great.. The oil and temp sensors are just 2.2l sensors and you should be able to find them at about any car parts store.. Good luck joe check out my web site for car pix.. joefishburn.com ___REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING_ ShelbyDodge mailing list ShelbyDodge@imagilist.com http://www.imagilist.com/mailman/listinfo/shelbydodge

SD G body shift cables... ;-(
Jim... It's not looking good in the states.. I check on Mopars parts network and the only thing available (there is 1) is in New Jersey.. Their number is 732-446-3738.. Selector cable.. That part number is 4419830.. The Mopar shift cable is 4419833.. but there are none.. I tried the H body cables and they are about 3 shorter so probably won't work... I tried NAPA and they only have the cross over cable listed and said it was unavailable. That part number is 6202362.. You might be able to find something with some work but it's going to be tough... Good luck.. joe ___REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING_ ShelbyDodge mailing list ShelbyDodge@imagilist.com http://www.imagilist.com/mailman/listinfo/shelbydodge

SD Heater to control connector, L-body
I had a massive vacuum leak going to my HVAC control in an 1986 Omni... It ended up being the vacuum connector between the control and heater box. The heater box end just disintegrates leaving you with a handful of small vacuum lines. They are color coded but with out help you'll never get them reconnected correctly.. I took some pictures of the connector and vacuum lines for the next poor guy who tries to repair his heater. I used 6 runs of 1/8 vacuum hose to replace the connector and a 7th run with a screw to plug for the red line It doesn't seem to do anything but does leak vacuum. SD Need custom computer, 87 CSX 2.5 t2
Wow, this board is a blast from the past! I've been working and playing with motorcycles for years now, and my SDs have been sitting patiently waiting for me to spend time with them again. My fire was re-lit when the guy I sold my 91 R/T to popped the motor (well...intermediate shaft let go) so I'm in the middle of rebuilding that. It's got me thinking turbocar again! So...I'm about to put the engine back in my 87 CSX, and need a custom computer. It's been so long my terminology may be wrong...please forgive me! Anyway. It's a t2 like always, with a garrett S70 turbo, ported 2pc intake and +40s. I may put in a FMIC or might just run stock, I haven't decided yet. A523 trans. Stock wiring and computer setup (underhood MAP, power/logic arrangement, etc). But...I built it on a 2.5 CB bottom end. Does anyone have a way to load a 2.5 map (different spark and fuel curves) into an 87 power module? Do I need to socket it? I used to do component level electronic repair, so socketing it (soldering) shouldn't be an issue with good instructions.. :) The computer and I are in Maryland if anyone's local(ish), I'd love to lend a hand and re-learn some of the intricacies of the ol' TD's! Either that...or will a later SMEC/SBEC wiring harness plug into the bulkhead and I can swap the engine bay over? Last (unrelated) question - nobody (like Coker Tire) makes reissues of the ol' Gatorback tires, do they? I need a new set of shoes for my wide-tire 89 CSX. 225/50-15s are tough to find in general, though. I may just paint some 16 pumpers gold and get 16s for ease, for the time being. Anyone know a paint code for the gold? thanks! SD 91 Spirit R/T FS, Maryland
Hi all, been quite a while since I posted here. I sold my 91 R/T to a co-worker and he brought it to me last week with a LOUD knock in the engine. I haven't had a chance to pull it apart yet, but it sounds too bright a noise to be deep internal, it sounds to me more like top end noise or accessory noise. But. 91 R/T, red. 16 pumpers, eibachs, 2.5 mandrel exhaust, manual boost controller, boost/a/f gauges A post. Power locks, power driver seat, navigator. No rips in interior. No dents/rust on the outside, but RF fender has a little wrinkle in it (pushed *out*, not in). The car has about 180k on it now, and despite the noise it has no misfire or stumble. I just don't have time to mess with it since I'm in the process of parting my wife's 2005 Magnum R/T that was totalled by a bonehead who ran a stop sign (the Mag is also taking up my garage). I'm not sure what he wants for it, but if you're interested send me a note. I do have some spares, too, that he never took that I can offer for sale: Complete top end except exh. manifold - disassembled, missing some lifters, head not cracked, cams good, turbo good with no shaft play, includes rail and injectors Rear bumper cover, 91 red Side moldings, DOHC 16 valve, 91 red (all 4 pieces) rear sail panel (between trunk and back window), 91 red, good clear (!) no fading Gauge surround for dash taillights seats - front/rear, non-power (I think), strobe stripe, excellent condition If you're interested in the car, or the parts, drop me an email. Re: SD A Shelby Dakota mystery
Well, the VIN lists do not show that VIN or anything close. They seem to be pretty sequential, the last six mostly starting with 10, 11, 13, 14. There are a couple of VINs that start with 0 like this one (073267), but most of them are 098 or 099 numbers. The Allpar VIN decoder was no help, what with it being a truck. It came back 89 Omni with 2.2 LPG motor! My guess is, front-end whacked 89 Shelby Dakota is reborn on stock 3.9 Dakota frame. They made tons of those trucks, wouldn't surprise me in the least if that's what happened. Did you find anything indicating truck CS number? I could always reference it that way to be sure. And, did you or your friend end up with any extra Shelby seat cloth? I still need a couple swatches to tie in the plain gray cloth front seats of my 87 CSX to the 89 CSX back seat and doorpanels ;) ___REMOVE-FOOTER-WHEN-REPLYING_ ShelbyDodge mailing list ShelbyDodge@imagilist.com http://www.imagilist.com/mailman/listinfo/shelbydodge
