Re: CSflaxseed oil ? was, Re: CSCS Crohn's Disease?
Flaxseed oil contains the precursers to Omega 3 oil and Omega 6 too, I guess. As long as your enzymatic pathway is intact so that the Omega 3 is synthesized from the precursers then you should be OK with it. If not, then you need to get the end result (Omega 3) from some other source. Anybody? Is there another source for Omega 3? ann th...@francomm.com What is wrong with flaxseed oil? I used to take both flaxseed and evening primrose oil, but looking at the primrose, it is mainly omega 6 with a little omega 9, so I can see not using that, but flaxseed is mainly omega 3 with some 6 and 9, according to the label on what I am using. Reason I'm asking is being allergic to iodine, I can't take fish oil. (Also no seafood, no ocean fish, no sea salt or complete mineral supplements, no kelp, obviously, etc). I did purchase some molecularly distilled fish oil, as I was told that would not contain iodine, but I've been too scared to take it. The consequences of me getting too much iodine are not fun, and often require use of cortisone/prednisone to get stopped. Somehow, having to use steroids seems to me worse than not getting enough omega 3, particularly as I already have some osteoporosis and a lot of osteopenia. I'm not sure how to deal with this. sol Duncan Crow wrote: Reducing inflammatory omega-6 oils and increasing EPA and DHA (not flax oil) reduces this kind of inflammation. -- The Silver List is a moderated forum for discussing Colloidal Silver. I am not familiar enough with Genetic science to know whether the gene for that trait is on the sex chromosome or one of the regular body chromosomes. Your son could pursue that with his doctor. There is a narrow therapeutic window for the use of Lithium and that entails a lot of blood draws at first to determine what his dosage should be. Re: CSsupplements to Terry
Pardon me for butting in..There is a lot of info on the net re Vitamin C intake. We lost the enzyme to make our own Vitamin C from serum glucose eons ago and must take it in via our diet. All the other primates have the same problem including the animal, guinea pigs. The animal having the highest level of endogenous (manufactured by the body) is the goat. Most people have a tolerance level for Vitamin C dependant upon the alimentary canal. It is said that the higher the level of infection the body has the more tolerance the body has for large amounts. This is particulary true for me. Long ago when I was much healthier and didn't have Lymme Disease I had a very low tolerance ie., lots of pain and gas in my gut along with diarhhea when I took a large dose. Re: CSWelcome Ann!
Welcome Ann! I've taken the liberty of renaming this thread. **OOPS! I'll learn. I'm a newbie, here to try to learn stuff about CS. Well, despite a minor discipline matter that I'm in the process of quelling, that's exactly what we're here for! I'm proud to say it's probably the first actual moderating I've had to do in a few months. This is generally a pleasingly well behaved group. smile **I have been on lots and lots of maining lists and have seen this happen over and over. Eventually things calm down usually :-) I have Lyme's Disease either for the third time, or a chronic case of some many years duration. Some of our premiere members are (former) Lymies. You're in good company. There are quite a few things besides CS that can help you, which I'm sure you'll hear about as we go along. **I would be very interested in hearing about any and all of them. Questions: What is a properly produced silver preparation? We generally strive for a clear, colorless (or nearly so) solution with a mild Tyndal effect that indicates some amount of small particles, the balance being ionic silver. From a few ppm up to 20 ppm or so is fine as far as concentration is concerned. What we encourage most folks to do is buy or build a generator and make their own. That way you can be confident of how your CS was produced and that it is pure and potent. **This is what we have done. We own two generators starting with a down level and now owning one (costs more) that makes smaller particles. We use Distilled sterile water, etc., etc. I would love to know how to determine the CS content of the finished product. Is there a method to test and find out? Sorry to be such a questioning person but would welcome any suggestions There are a handful of good brands of bottled CS out there, but none will be as good a value as home-brewed. Many other brands are of unknown quality and exhorbitantly priced. We'll do our best to steer you right, whatever you choose to do. **Right now we are making our own, but open to all kinds of technical suggestions. What happens to the fermentation that takes place in human stomachs? Do probiotics help the problem? If you take a *lot* of CS, it can disturb the flora in your stomach and intestines. Sometimes that's desireable, as in cases of food poisoning or severe diarhea. The CS can get to the problem and clear it up. **Already taking the probiotics but my gastric problems continue too!!! In general we depend on the fact that food will re-populate the gut pretty fast, just from normal handling and normal sanitary shortcomings, *and* that CS is much less mobile, therefore much less effective, in the denser medium of the feces. **Are you reminding me that the CS is effective when it happens to encounter the pathogen as opposed to permeating the entire contents of the gut? I am hoping it is going to encounter the spirochetes too. Since I have been infected a long time, I'm hoping it will meet up with the enemy and not just charge through my system and out without any effect. Antibiotics - all of them - make me sick. So, the upshot is that some yogurt or probiotics can be taken as a precaution or as needed to repopulate the gut. In general, though, routine small doses can be taken without serious concern, or so it seems from the general experience here. If there are websites that would help me learn such things, I would appreciate being sent in that direction. There are some good ones, including those of some of our members. I'll let other folks pipe up with them and their own input to your questions. Welcome aboard, ma'am. You're asking great questions. Keep it up! Be well! Re: CSWelcome Ann!
Dear Ann, You mention having allergies--wondering if you've heard that there is in fact a link between damaged intestinal flora (the kind of damage done by antibiotics) and allergies. Poor flora leads to incompletely digested material entering the blood stream which are then treated as foreign bodies by the immune system--thus the tendency to allergies. Besides using CS, you could look into making your own kefir as a way of restoring balance in the gut. Best, DByron **Yes, thanks I have heard that. However, my allergies preceeded that fact. I was born with digestive problems such that I only retained enough nourishment to keep me alive. When I was six months old only had gained a couple of pounds (they tell me). What grain do you use to make kefir? I don't handle grains at all. I eat goat yogurt made with live cultures and buy the freeze dried varieties from the local health food store. Well, I take CS frequently and still have GERD. It's not the only thing we need to do, is all. grin **Are you reminding me that the CS is effective when it happens to encounter the pathogen as opposed to permeating the entire contents of the gut? Right. Kill tests in culture work well in broth but much less well on agar plates. Same goes for in the gut. Most absorption takes place through mucous membranes in the mouth, if you swish it a while, and in stomach and intestines. Any that makes it to the bowel is almost certain to be tied up in the dense matrix of the material there. It can't kill a germ it can't get to. I am hoping it is going to encounter the spirochetes too. Since I have been infected a long time, I'm hoping it will meet up with the enemy and not just charge through my system and out without any effect. Antibiotics - all of them - make me sick. It'll get into the bloodstream, where it will meet up with the spirochetes as they emerge from hiding in your other tissues. We don't know enough about how silver is transported in the body to say for sure where it will get to and where it won't, but Lyme, as you know, is a stubborn and stealthy disease. Your gastric problems may be related to the antibiotics you've taken in the past. To the extent the CS will disrupt your flora, it will be the same.
