Hi Paul,
The only hitch with DMSO is that it can be very drying to the skin. Mixed 50/50
with Aloe, it's just as effective and the skin will be happier.
There's also a recipe called Brooks mix: 75%CS, 15%glycerin, and 10%DMSO. Great
for wounds and aches. I put mine in a 1oz roll0on I got on eBay.
Also, tart cherry juice is good for gout, but if it gets pricey or hard to find
for you, there are tart cherry capsules (I take one every night) that are
pretty effective, too.
If you suspect gout, try to avoid foods with purines, like sardines, shrimp,
smoked oysters, etc. That's what brought mine on.

Be well,
Léna

Re: CSDMSO Question

2012-10-11 Thread Lena Guyot
Hi Paul,
I've used this brand. It's good, but pricey for chronic use. I get DMSO from my
local Feed'n'Seed,(for about 1/4 price) then combine with aloe vera gel I get
in a tube at our Natural Food Store.
Glycerine is supposed to be drying, too, but in the original Brooks mix, it was
used to soften the skin and I never noticed it having a drying effect. I made
large bottles of the mix and then decanted them to my small roll-ons. (nice to
have them scattered about for whenever, wherever I need them)
Now, I'm using the 50/50 DMSO and Aloe gel, and that seems to work very well.
More DMSO than that, and the less exposed, more tender skin, like the back of
knee, seems to get itchy and irritated. But we're all different.

Be well,
Léna

Please tell me if the body odor associated with dmso use diminishes with time
and use or does it remain until one no longer uses it...I smell like old

Also does it release ammonia in the body? I think ammonia is NH3 and dmso is

Not everyone gets the odor or the taste, but most people do. No one
knows why. You can take Chlorophyll capsules to diminish the odor. I
also use a Chlorophyll mint drop that I buy at Whole Foods.

There is a low odor type available from www.jacoblab.com but it is
expensive.

Here is the url to the DMSO group. You may find the archives helpful.

CSDMSO Question

2004-05-26 Thread NANCY ESTES
I have a friend who’s very skeptical about the use of
DMSO, even at 10% dilution. She’s done cell line
research in which DMSO is used to protect the cells
when they’re frozen in liquid nitrogen. The DMSO has
to be removed very quickly when the cells are taken
out of the liquid nitrogen or the DMSO will destroy
the cells. She says she’s also seen it bleach pigment
out of skin. (She’s a prof at a university med
school.)

Any explanations, etc.? I’m not trying to convince
her to use it but am curious myself as I do use DMSO
in conjunction with CS.

I've used studied DMSO since it's medical applications first came

Makes sense to me. I can't see how it could have been used so long, and
used on animals so long, without an uproar about bad effects. I used it, at
the vet's direction, years ago on the muzzle of a dog that had been bitten
by a spider and it certainly didn't kill her. (Or bleach her coat or skin,

Well this is a very specialized situation. Thawing any tissue
frozen in liquid nitrogen is tricky.

She says shes also seen it bleach pigment

I have not heard of this side effect. There is no mention
of it in the two books I have, nor have I experienced it.
I have used 99% on my skin and I have sensitive skin. The
only reaction I got was itching and some drying with repeated
applications.

I think her biases are a function of her profession. Just
my take.

Any explanations, etc.? Im not trying to convince
her to use it but am curious myself as I do use DMSO
 in conjunction with CS.

You would have to drink several liters of concentrated DMSO to get 10% in
your body.

I don't think she's ever done any research on DMSO, just with DMSO, so her
experience is actually pretty limited.
