My oldest daughter paid money and endured pain to go the standard establishment route for a planter wart. Her troubles didn't end until she drank CS until the wart was gone. Simple lugols solution (iodine) works wonders. What do you think about Finn Comfort shoes? Other than that they are kinda expensive? Their sandals have been heaven for me. The insert is usually replaced after about 6 months. The metatarsal arch support is what had been missing in most other shoes. So tons of money went for orthotic devices--Feathersprings, Good Feet store, and otc stuff. If the second toe is longer than the big toe, then we need the metatarsal support. Was nearly 60 before I discovered this!!Re the Birkies--those ridges under the toes have made me back off from them--they always hurt. Wondering if I made a mistake. pj __ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Birkenstocks are about the only thing available to me. Thanks for the brand mentions, might be worth it for me to take a look at the ones you mentioned. But the birkenstock blue inserts fixed my plantar fasciitis just fine at $49 a pair. I wear them even in my house slippers. For the birkenstock shoes with those toe ridges, which hurt me also, I took a large slant tipped chisel and a hammer and flattened them out. Worked a treat. It would be nice to find a shoe with the heel and arch support without those nasty ridges under the toes. Re: CSFoot problems, hurt your back
Hi Tel, I've also been using Birkenstock sandals for many years but they do not work as well as an orthotic because the bed is generic. If you want true comfort, orthotics are the best solution since they're made to fit your foot exactly. They cup your heel and arch as they should be and hold you all together. They also adjust your ankle angle so you walk properly. The foot doc says it's OK to wear them around the house but not for general use. It's true for me. My first set has lasted 10 years or so and is still working perfectly. Birkenstocks break down as you testify by buying a new pair each year. They're not cost effective for what one gets versus what one needs. Re: CSFoot problems, hurt your back
As someone else said Yoga is excellent. Why? In a disciplined form like Iyengar Yoga one learns how to place their feet, and work their feet muscles. How to watch the colour of their skin, to observe the circulation or lack there of. It creates a strong foundation. Without good roots, the tree will fall. Without strong feet, the bodies organs, endocrines, meridians, and body parts are off orientation and directional alignment. Good shoes, esp. Birkenstocks are fabulous supports, but your feet should be strong without shoes. Until the feet are strong use supports. P.S. It's an inside job. Christine Carleton, C.B.P.
