Yes, I'd say that that sentence meant to say "Error-Info", as in no other place is "Contact" described as having a usage like that. > But table 2 indicates it is only legal in a 485 response. > > Header field where proxy ACK BYE CAN INV OPT REG > - - --- --- --- --- --- --- > Contact Ro - - m o o > Contact1xx - - - o - - > Contact2xx - - - m o o > Contact3xx d- o - o o o > Contact485 - o - o o o >From the descriptions of the 4xx responses in section 21.4, it looks like 485 is the only 4xx error which has use for Contact. [Sip-implementors] Contact header in 4xx,5xx,6xx responses
RFC 3261 section 13.2.2.3 says 4xx, 5xx and 6xx responses may contain a Contact header field value indicating the location where additional information about the error can be found. But table 2 indicates it is only legal in a 485 response. Header field where proxy ACK BYE CAN INV OPT REG - - --- --- --- --- --- --- Contact Ro - - m o o Contact1xx - - - o - - Contact2xx - - - m o o Contact3xx d- o - o o o Contact485 - o - o o o The statement does not contain normative requirements language, but is inconsistent with the table. It seems that "Contact" should be replaced by "Error-Info" since it talks about getting additional info about the error which is exactly what the Error-Info is for.
