RFC 3261 section 13.2.2.3 says
4xx, 5xx and 6xx responses may contain a Contact header field value
indicating the location where additional information about the error
can be found.
But table 2 indicates it is only legal in a 485 response.
Header field where proxy ACK BYE CAN INV OPT REG
------------ ----- ----- --- --- --- --- --- ---
Contact R o - - m o o
Contact 1xx - - - o - -
Contact 2xx - - - m o o
Contact 3xx d - o - o o o
Contact 485 - o - o o o
The statement does not contain normative requirements language, but is
inconsistent with the table. It seems that "Contact" should be replaced by
"Error-Info" since it talks about getting additional info about the error
which is exactly what the Error-Info is for.
Is this a bug?
cheers,
