Referring to note 5 on the referenced website (which mentions EEA), on a recent
trip to Hamburg my wife had a free battery replacement for her iPhone6s which
was out of AppleCare cover.

Earlier this year i had a free battery replacement for my iPhone6 (several
years old) in Brighton, it didn’t quite last for an 8 hour day.

We have also had excellent support in New York 2 years ago for an iPad problem
(out of AppleCare cover), and a free front glass replacement (single crack, not
starred) on wife’s iPhone6s (out of AppleCare cover) in Hong Kong also 2 years
ago.

Some others, of course, will have negative experiences with Apple, but not us.

The only advice I would offer for good service is look helpless and be extra
polite.

Paul Owen.

[sussex_mug] Strange behaviour in Photos

2018-08-10 Thread 'Steve Davies' via Sussex Mac User Group
HI,

I just got my iMac back from Apple after they replaced my failed 3TB Fusion
drive.
On getting it home I booted from my Time Machine back up and everything appears
to be working fine with the exception of Photos.

All my images pre hard drive failure are present but new images taken on my
iPhone 7 while the Mac was away are not showing in photos, when I try to import
them they show as greyed out.
As I understand it the .HEIC image format should be standard Apple fare.

See attached screen shots.

Am I missing something in settings somewhere?

BTW: I took the machine to Apple for the hard drive repair after spending a
while on the phone with Apple support who made the genius bar appointment for
me after deciding my issues were not software issues and therefore not curable
over the phone.
While at the Apple store I mentioned that there was a little ghosting at the
bottom left of my screen, they said they would have to replace the screen.

The bill came to over £800 and Apple floored me when they said they would cover
the cost, (The machine is a late 2013 27”)
Absolutely brilliant after sales / customer care.

Steve.
