[RCSE] Casl RES winner
Since everybody else is patting themselves on the back. Is it OK? to say that Mark Howard won RES at Phoenix with a Victory RES. BTW...the last two Nats were also won with the Victory RES. Gees! I don't even have the kit fully finished. These were protos! Working on a new spoiler that will be molded into the upper surface (actually Phil Barnes is working on this new idea) Add to that the new light wings and special built up tails we should be easily in the low 50 oz range. -- Sal DeFrancesco Northeast Sailplane Products 948 Hercules Dr. Suite 12 Colchester, Vt. 05446 802-655-7700 Website: http://www.nesail.com RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News. Re: [RCSE] Lift Ticket video
No! Please buy directly from Dave Reese at [EMAIL PROTECTED]. He worked long and hard on this project, the best damn RC glider/slope/DS/PSS/Foamie movie to date (Hands down). This ain't no "down stream video". This is the only movie that will get you all jazzed up about flying in the middle of winter when there is no flying to be had. You will not doze off, you will be inspired, you will want to build new gliders for the upcoming season, you will watch it time and time again and see something new each time you do. The now infamous "Golden Gate Smoke Run" by none other than sky burning Scott Hewett with his "Higgins F-20" is worth the price of the video alone. The man worked hard and long on this project and it shows. It is not like other videos that have been "thrown together" and then placed on the market to see what the market will bear. This is entertainment/education in its purest form and should be rewarded. The Europeans are going nuts over this thing! Obviously they know quality when they see it. Buy directly from Dave. [RCSE] Robbe Infinity 2 Problems
Hi all, I just recieved a new Infinity 2 charger today, and it seems to have an odd problem. When I first hooked it up, the display comes up fine, but then fades to nothing but backlighting after about 20 seconds. Then...nothing, just green backlighting. If I leave it unplugged for about an hour I get another 20 seconds of display text, then it fades again. The charger itself still beeps when you cycle though (unreadable) functions, but no display. I'm using a bench power supply that's run all my other chargers (Astro 110 for ex) without a hiccup - it puts out 13.74V at the outputs. Same problem happens off of a car battery. Any idea what this might be, or is it back to Aveox for replacement? Thanks, Adam _ Get Your Private, Free E-mail from MSN Hotmail at http://www.hotmail.com. [RCSE] Re: flying 4 axis
Depends on who is defining the axes. In the inertial guidance systems world people commonly talk about a 6 axis inertial measurement unit. Roll, pitch, and yaw gyros to measure rotational rates, and x, y and z axis accelerometers to measure accelerations. You need them all to figure out where you were, or are, or want to go. At any rate, no matter where you go, there you are. happy trails - Rob Glover The definition of an axis is "a straight line about which a body or a geometric figure rotates or may be supposed to rotate" From this it would be clear that the only basic axes we are dealing with in aircraft are 3 - yaw, pitch and roll. Any movement, up-down (as in collective on helicopters), side to side or front to back is not rotation about an axis and therefore cannot be regarded as an axis -- John O'Sullivan Nova Scotia

[RCSE] RNR 99" and why
Good reason for smaller span in a moldy or glass bagged. Guys have found that the composite ships tip weight makes a difference when it comes to just using Rudder for roll. The smaller span should take some of that mass moment out of the equation and add some serious value when it comes to the landings. Don't be too quick to condemn, those RNR guys started in the RNR days by winning lots of contests and they know the cost of gearing up for the 'wrong' plane. Let the games begin, and see what produces smiles and wood :-) Gordy

Re: [RCSE] flying 4 axis
This is confusing. I see it as: 3 axis's. The plane can move in any of the axis's. It can also rotate around any of the axis's. Movement and rotation. Or, translation and rotation. Whatever, I see it as 6 degrees of freedom on 3 axis's. I think this applies best to the freestyle helicopter flying. I encourage all pilots to see some freestyle chopper flying. The choppers fly maneuvers that I couldn't make up names for. Genuinely astounding. I found it more eye popping than the first time I saw DS. I don't know how any mortal being could do it. Re: [RCSE] flying 4 axis
Michael; For helicopters the fourth axis (probably more appropriately called control) is "collective". It's used to control the pitch of the main rotor blades, usually from about a positive 20 degrees to a negative 10 degrees. The throttle is normally slaved to the collective control with a computer transmitter although it can be uncoupled and controlled separately for various 3D maneuvers. When you look at the current crop of RES ships, you find that 110" to 118" seems to be the norm. R&R makes good quality, strong planes.
