Dave Hauch Mich. - Original Message - From: D Hauch [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Monday, November 29, 2004 12:10 AM Subject: [RCSE] f3f racing at Brookfield Dam IN. Anyone down that way interested in some racing ? Greg Smith from www.slopeflyer.com has everything we need in his f3f timing system, and where both game for coming down for some racing. We will have to watch the weather towards the end of a week, then jump on any opportunity we get. It will have to be a spur of the moment deal. Anyones interested, send me contact number and I'll hang onto them, then I'll call or email you if things are looking good for a race. Dave Hauch Mich. Re: [RCSE] sorry, thats Brookville Dam Indiana.
Hey Dave, I'm a TD type flyer in the Chicago area, but my father lives just a few miles from Brookville Dam and would love to see some good slope flying. If you guys wouldn't mind a spectator, let me know when you'll be racing and I'll pass the info on to him. Hopefully, I will get down to Brookville myself someday to slope. I was there when they built that dam and lake, and have spent a lot of my teenage years skiing there. So, it would be particularly meaningful if I could fly that dam someday. Talk with you later. [RCSE] Sorry About All The Hoopla
I'm sorry to see all the fuss in response to my question about the JR 9303 Radio. As I said I was just curious. I knew there was a fly-off for something or other but I wasn't really paying attention. I don't want anyone to think I was complaining or that I felt I deserved anything. I'm happy someone won the radio and I would 100% rather it be by merit that just blind luck - the person that won the flyoff really won much more that a radio don't you think? I don't need a radio. I have a nice radio and a backup. I think CVRC made a great choice to have a flyoff. I flew in a flyoff once and it was great fun - since I happen to win it was even greater fun. I didn't win anything but I flew very well and that's why it meant something to me. To be honest I don't get much satisfaction out of winning if I don't perform well. Aren't the most memorable times those that we did something special, even if we don't win? Winning and performing well is the absolute best of course. I would hope that we would be more understanding and not complain about these things so much. We all know how good the Fall Festival is and we know that they try very hard to make it a great contest and I think they succeed very well. Sure they have some hiccups now and then but just look at all they get right. I have been going to the Fall Festival for 8 years and for me this was the best one ever. I got to stay under a nice shade (thank you Craig) with some nice people , I got to talk to people about sailplanes and flying, I met some new people and generally just had a great time. Oh yah, one of my flaps quit working before my flight so I had to turn my flaps off. My plane launched almost as good as with flaps, I made my time, and a did a pretty good landing, maybe a little conservative but on the grass. I was suprised how I was more focused on the planes energy than when I use flaps (after all I didn't want to kill anyone and certainly did not want to land off field!) and I could see that even when you use flaps you should really look at your energy more. Now... Darwin, would you please tell us about your flight with the broken wing! I heard the story from you but there were a lot of people watching that flight (and cheering you on) and I'm sure they would like to hear what happened! But I didn't log the location(s) for the description of that new Futaba radio. Could someone be so kind and refresh my memory? There was something out there called Glider3D, a freeware program that tried to simulate slope gliding, but the last version I saw was really buggy. The Mulitplex sim seems to get good reviews with regards to its glider simulation. There's also a full scale glider sim called Hang Sim that simulates hang gliders, para gliders, and sailplanes. [RCSE] Sorry about that. Has anyone built one of these?
It's an interesting web page. I'm curious if anyone has had experience with this and how much it would cost. I am not sure about the legal aspects of this equipment but it may be worth a look at for those who like to tinker with electronics. http://home.nordnet.fr/%7Efthobois/anglais/engl-index.htm -- Greg Nuspel RCSE-List facilities provided by Model Airplane News.
