I need to know:

Do  4801-60 with case and 5501-70 with case needs an external power supply ?  
If the reply is yes, may you provide it ?

Is it possible to get 4801-60 with 512MB Ram ?

Is it possible to get 5501-70 with 1024 MB Ram ?

 

I need to know pricing on above extension before ordering.

Works fine on the net5501 too...

It works too.  boot f0 is very useful for PXE booting a machine that
has an operating system on its internal drive(s), e.g. to upgrade it.

 - if the CF card has no bootable OS, or the CF card is missing, then it
   goes into PXE boot automatically. If that fails, it leaves you at a
   combios prompt.

Indeed, that is the behaviour I would expect.  The computer trying PXE,
and going to monitor if no tftp server is available, if there is not a
bootable drive on it (even if there is a drive installed on the Soekris).

[Soekris] net5501 COM2 +5V pin

Can someone confirm that the net5501 has the same COM2 pin out as the
net4801?  If so, can that +5V pin supply at least 60 mA?  I've got the 12V
1.5A wall wart supply and no rotating storage or PCI cards, just the CF
card.

If you're curious I'm considering connecting a Garmin GPS 18 LVC-5m.
Tips on getting this working with ntpd in FreeBSD 6.2 are also welcome, if
perhaps slightly off topic.  Although I expect my biggest challenge will
be getting enough of a view of the sky with all the aluminum siding
