Maemo is using some patches on top of 1.12.10 (e.g. see
 http://repository.maemo.org/pool/maemo5.0/free/s/sofia-sip/ ),
but AFAIK these will find their way to the official tree,
 if not already all there.

I believe all functional patches are (should re-check with the evil in-house
repository on my laptop), the remaining patches were about reorganizing some
build files for our once-special needs.

Best regards,
  Mikhail

Well, yes, we are currently trying to switch over to git. The git
 repository is available at

 http://gitorious.org/sofia-sip

The master branch currently contains the more or less the same commits
as the darcs repository at sofia-sip.org. It would be useful to
mention also that on the sf.net.

The next features (and bug fixes) mostly involve DNS resolving and
transport handling. There seems to be some nasty bugs in transport
handling that might be hard to fix unless some backwards-incompatible
changes are made. At the same time it would me nice to get
multiprocessing support and perhaps complete the hooks for a SigComp
 library.

Hi Pekka,

I tried:
http://gitorious.org/sofia-sip

but I see it contains exactly the same commits as the darcs repo, same
for the mjerris branch.

I'm trying in these days to compile sofia-sip in MinGW, which
currently fails during configuration with the message:
configure: error: printf cannot handle 64-bit integers

It seems that Mike already fixed that:
http://jira.freeswitch.org/browse/SFSIP-131

so I'd like to see how he fixed the problem (and possibly get it
integrated into the main sofia-sip repo) rather than re-invent the
same solution from scratch.

Regards.

I had thought that change got pushed quite some time ago:

This is it from our tree iirc.

Re: [Sofia-sip-devel] Is sofia-sip dead?

2010-06-21 Thread Kai.Vehmanen
Hi,

On 17 June 2010, Daniel Jabbour wrote:
* Sofia-Sip's CVS on SF is 18+ months old, and the latest release in CVS was

yep, code was moved from CVS to darcs way, way back. But this
was never mentioned on the main web site, which I agree, is very
misleading. I now added a note about darcs to the download page.

* Links on the download page for snapshots, release notes archive, etc are
broken

It seems sf.net has disabled directory index pages by default some
time back. I fixed these now. Thanks for the bug report!

* The latest packaged source release is 1.12.10

So, if the latest release is greater than the version tagged in CVS, where is
development taking
place? Has the repository moved? Is Nokia working entirely in-house? Or is
Sofia-SIP dead?

Latest code is maintained in the Darcs repos at sofia-sip.org:
http://sofia-sip.org/

But as others have noted, amount of activity has been low during
the last year. The project is by no means dead however. For instance
on Nokia side Sofia-SIP is used in many Nokia projects (e.g.
the Nokia N900). At least in Nokia there are no in-house
repositories, so all the code is open (except of course, developers'
own private branches).

Maemo is using some patches on top of 1.12.10 (e.g. see
http://repository.maemo.org/pool/maemo5.0/free/s/sofia-sip/ ),
but AFAIK these will find their way to the official tree,
if not already all there.

Sofia-SIP is also making its way to MeeGo:
http://lists.meego.com/pipermail/meego-dev/2010-May/002299.html

Of course it would not hurt to discuss what is missing,
what areas need improvement (the most), and especially who would
be interested to collaborate on these areas.

Hi Mike.
This is a matter of great interest for me as well.
We (at the company I work for) have a number of projects that rely on
sofia-sip and it would be nice to know what to expect for the foreseeable
future. These (and a few other) questions come immediately into mind:
Are those patches you mentioned coming from your own tree in freeswitch? Why
are there no new patches by the original developers? What are the expected
new features to be added in the short term? What about all the bugs
currently open and unanswered mail in the mailing lists?
I know you probably don't have all the answers for these questions, maybe
this can at least stimulate some discussion.
Thanks.
