SDK: C++ Custom Operator port connections

2014-10-01 Thread Matt Lind
I have a Custom Operator written using the C++ SDK, and it uses dynamic port
connections.

1) From inside the _Update() callback, how can I determine the number of
connected ports in a dynamic custom operator where the number of input ports is
arbitrary and not known ahead of time? For example, the envelope operator -
how does it know how many deformers and kinematic state properties are plugged
into it?

2) How can I determine if an individual port is connected to anything? So far
I've been creating an object of the expected type then calling .IsValid().

For example:

X3DObject oObject = oOperator.GetInput( PortIndex );
If ( !oObject.IsValid() )
{
return( CStatus::Fail );
}

Is this the recommended way to validate a port connection?

Thanks,

Matt

Re: Strand segment based on lenght

thanks for the help!

Ok cool. Does every every point have the same amount of vectors in
strandposition,
unless specified? How would I go about altering strandposition based on
length and get that data into the segment number?

I thought i could just get the: strandposition --> Get Array Size --> nb of
segments . but Im not understanding things correctly..

yes you can. every point in the pointcloud has an attribute called
strandposition which is an array of vectors. the size of this array defines
how many strandsegments that point has.

Re: Mouse

2014-10-01 Thread Martin Yara
The Contour mouse looks great!! A little expensive here though, US$110 at
Amazon JP. But it may worth a try.
I only want to be able to middle click without stress and have a few extra
buttons, that's harder to find than it sounds.

The Logitech G400 was a very good gamer mouse, I think that was the last
Logitech I bought and didn't return.

The Logitech Performance MX... I think that was my last Logitech that I did
returned. In my amazon's record it's called M950T. The middle click was
some sort of double step button where you had to press it deep to click,
otherwise it would be just a useless wheel. Rolling the wheel like 100 rps
with one move felt pretty good I must confess, but not very useful.

About the second monitor, that's another reason why I need a mouse, to
control my second monitor. I like to work with a M size pen tablet mapped
to only one monitor. I guess a big L size tablet would fix my problems but
I would lose too much desk and my Natural Keyboard is already huge.

Thanks

Martin

There are quite a few samples scene files that come with it, maybe they
