Do you use it? If so, how?

admin-extra allows one to include additional links and/or information in
the Solr admin main page:

admin-extra

2015-10-07 Thread Upayavira
Do you use admin-extra within the admin UI?

If so, please go to [1] and document your use case. The feature
currently isn't implemented in the new admin UI, and without use-cases,
it likely won't be - so if you want it in there, please help us
understand how you use it!

Thanks!

Admin extra menu becomes invisible

2015-03-17 Thread Dikshant Shahi
Hi,

I uncommented the html tags in admin-extra.menu-top and
admin-extra.menu-bottom. It works fine when I select the core from the
dropdown but once I click on any other tab like Replication, Dataimport
etc, it disappears.

I tried it in Solr 4.6.1 and Solr 5.0.0 and the behavior is same.

I could see there is a fix in JIRA issue 4405
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-4405 but I don't see it
working.

Am wondering if am missing something.

Thanks,
Dikshant

Re: [POLL] Who how does use admin-extra ?

2013-08-08 Thread Bernd Fehling
I have a table of links to all my servers running SOLR.
So I can jump from one admin page any other servers admin page.
And also a link to my monitoring server.
Not very innovative but better than an empty page.

So, yes I'm using it.

Bernd

it can be yes, that's why it originla existed -- Stefan's question was
wether anyone was actually using it for that.

I used it quite a bit back in the day at CNET as a way to self document
what an instance was for and how to find internal documnetnation about hte
instance and what queries to use it for etc..., but i haven't personally
taken advantage of it in the new UI (where there are more customiation
options instead of just a single header file)

I'm using it to link to some custom admin pages that are part of Lux
(see luxdb.org). If there's a better way, though, I'd be happy to adopt it.

Re: [POLL] Who how does use admin-extra ?

2013-08-07 Thread Alexandre Rafalovitch
I was thinking of using it to provide example queries in collections I give
as examples. I also tested using it to inject a pop-out page that pulled
bootstrap/angular from CDN to do fancy interface to local instance. It
could have been useful if - say - example distribution also had a couple
of example queries in there, not just empty files (as last time I looked).

On the other hand, I am not sure how to use pre-/post- menu entries at all.
I thought maybe they were injecting something into the main pane, but they
seem to be straight links to somewhere else.

   Alex.

Re: [POLL] Who how does use admin-extra ?

2013-08-07 Thread Alexandre Rafalovitch
The problem I saw was that the styles were all reset in a funny way, so it
was hard to just say H1/H2/div/ui and have a reasonable content showing up.
It was all small undifferentiated text. So, one had to inject a whole
bootstrap/CSS reset to do something useful. And, of course, even that was
non-trivial.

Alex.

the problem isn't that it should resolve relative core.getName(), the
problem is that it's a static method which uses the static singleton core
... even if the static method took in a SolrCore as a param, the way
admin-extras.html use to work is that it depended on the admin-extras.html
file not being hidden in the declaration, and to make that work
properly in multicore the JSP needs to interogate the
ShowFileRequestHanlder -- but there may be 0, or more then 1.

it's really just a big headache.

admin-extra file in multicore

2010-04-16 Thread Jon Baer
Hi,

It looks like Im trying to do the same thing in this open JIRA here ...

https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/SOLR-975

I noticed in index.jsp it has a reference to:

%
// a quick hack to get rid of get-file.jsp -- note this still spits out
invalid HTML
 out.write(
org.apache.solr.handler.admin.ShowFileRequestHandler.getFileContents(
admin-extra.html ) );
%

Instead of resolving with the core.getName() path ...

Was trying to avoid building a custom solr.war for this project is there
another quick hack to include content for admin backend or is patching the only
way?

Thanks.
