err no, I've followed the doc through on installing it but returns about a million errors in /var/log/messages. Does the kernel module tend to work better? Thank you, Although I have the same firmware and modem_run files so its not that. I found out that it could be something to do with APIC and I've changed grub so it loads the kernel with the noapic option, its better (touch wood) but has done it once since changing it. If it does it again I'll try what Duncan says and change it to the USB 2 port etc. Cheers - Original Message - From: Robin Cornelius [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Wednesday, September 10, 2003 4:13 PM Subject: [speedtouch] Re: (No Date: Wed, 10 Sep 2003 10:09:08 +0100 firmware:- MD5: ce3582cc9c3b967baa0e918f2708075d size: 535856 modem_run: 1.2-beta1 built from source last entry in change log:- 31/01/2003 - src/modem_run.c src/pusb.h src/pusb-linux.c src/pusb-bsd.c: GomGom Added kernel module support into modem_run as an option -k - debian/changelog: GomGom I am now the debian packager - Makefile.in (all): GomGom Updated dist rules. Hi, Thanks for the reply. That seems a bit excessive. Just unplug the modem and rerun modem_run etc. However, the unloading of the USB module might be useful to automate the task. I wish I could just unplug the modem, I forgot to mention its quicker to reboot the machine than to walk all the way over to the comms room and back. Unloading of the USB module didnt really help, pppd kept trying to redial and so the firmware couldnt be reloaded as the modem was sortof in use. Although I suppose I could of killed pppd oh well.
