[Spits] 1969 GT6 Plus for sale
If anybody is looking for a project or parts car I would appreciate you letting them know about my GT6. I bought a 1969 GT6 plus last year with the idea I would turn it into a vintage racecar in my spare time...you know the story, I've got a TIG, MIG, rollcage bender, years of Triumph racing knowledge, etchow hard can it be! The key that I forgot was spare time! I haven't had time to even prep my SCCA Spit and now the wife wants to put in an inground pool this summer! PS - Anybody interested in a fiberglass pool I am a dealer for Leisure Pools USA and can make you a great deal...sorry for the plug! Anyways I would like to sell it. Details: No Title - I didn't care I was going to race it...I could probably come up with some paper for a Spitfire if necessary. Body - floors, boot, doors and 95% exterior pretty good. Rockers and bonnet by turn signals not so goodI may have a spit bonnet we could cut good parts out of? Car originally came from down south so it isn't a rust bucketjust a bucket! Engine- is complete and did run as the previous owner was messing with the carbs...does come with an extra set of carbs and some other misc. spares. Interior - seats look decent, but the rest is a messagain I didn't really care as I was going to strip it clean anyways. I believe all the instruments are with the car in a bucket..but I haven't checked...again we could probably snag anything thats missing from my Spitfire stockpile. I have $650 into it and would like $650 out of it. Just the tranny and front suspension is worth nearly that to a vintage or SCCA racer. I do have some pictures and the car is located near Jackson, Michigan. Delivery is possible for a little extra. [Spits] Adjustable Vertical Links
Dear Spit Lister's, A few of my racing buddies have asked me to build an adjustable rear vertical link based on John Wolfe's picture as well as Kas' book. These are probably more geared towards the road racing and autocross group, but thought I would share with you all. Wolfe gets 80 pounds ($160 plus shipping from UK) for the parts only and that doesn't include the vertical link nor it's modification and welding. I will need to get $200.00 plus shipping for the set, sand blasted, painted, heims, etc. complete and I'm supplying all parts. If Owner wants to supply the Vertical Links then $175.00 plus shipping. Cheers Chris ___ Christopher E. Crisenbery, P.E. Re: [Spits] GT6 Bump Steer
Hi Greg and the rest of the lists, Bumpsteer is certainly present in the Spitfire and I'm sure in the GT6 as well. If you want to see it in action take a jack place under your front cross member, take 2 - 2X4 and lay parallel with your front tires, measure roughly the toe setting of your tires and then raise the jack up 1 inch and remeasure (make sure you reset the 2X4 against the tires or you will show the same toe setting :^) I know Rick Cline - he builds many of the parts I use on my SCCA Spitfire and even he will admit tires have came a long way since he was racing. With that said street tires probably aren't as touchy as a 200 degree racing slick to steering input. We bump steer (adjust) the car every time we do a complete suspnsion alignment. My limited prep Spitfire has less than an 1/8in change in its toe setting over 3 inches of suspension travel. My highly modified suspension has zero toe change over 4 inches of suspension travel (2 in bump and 2 in droop) Greg I'm located in Jackson and would be happy to help you bump steer your GT6 and I believe it will make it a better driving car with very little work. If anyone else is interested I could detail out the steps needed to do it in your own garage...but it won't happen for a couple of weeks as I'm leaving for Topeka Friday for a National race and then Gingerman (near South Haven) is the very next week after I get back. [Spits] Rear suspension modification question
Dear Listers, I'm looking at making an adjustable rear shackle to be able to adjust the rear tires camber. I believe Kas Kastners book has a picture of an adjustable shackle. I'm talking about the piece that attaches at the end of the spring and bolts to the rear axle trunnion and lower shock mount. Have any of you done this modification? I believe the Kas detail shows the 2 eyes being whacked off of the shackle and a rod end welded onto each side to take it's place. I believe when you screw the rod ends up you will lengthen the overall length of the shackle and it should raise the car by having less camber on the rear wheels. I would be interested in any pictures or experience in doing this mod. Thanks ___ Christopher E. Crisenbery, P.E. Aftermarket hardtop 1971 Spitfire for sale
Hi I just picked up a 71/72 Spitfire that has a aftermarket fiberglass hardtop on it. I'm looking at selling it or maybe having a mold pulled from it and reproducing them if there was enough interest. It looked to fit pretty well, had a cheesy vinyl cover over it and the rear window is crazed (plexiglas) but I thing with a little TLC it could work real well. One nice thing is it is really light as I had no problem lifting it off the car by myself. I've got a factory one and its a pain as its pretty heavy. Their is some other parts that are good to OK condition on the car, let me know what you are interested in and I'll shoot a couple of pic's. has a brown dash that appears good. I will be parting this car out, does have a good title. Chris ___ Christopher E. Crisenbery, P.E. Rebuilt Brakes
Does anyone know of a source for rebuilt brake calipers for a Mark III. I've got one that keeps leaking and I don't think it's worth putting another seal kit in it. ___ Christopher E. Help identifing intake manifold
Hi everyone, I just bought an old road racing spitfire and it came with an extra intake manifold which looks at first glance to be a 1 1/4 or 1 1/2 1300/1500 intake but at closer inspection there are a number of differences and I'm not sure what it's for and thought maybe one of you might shed some light on it for me? The mounting flange to the head matches the 1300/1500 heads but where the carbs bolt on the studs are rotated about 15 to 30 degrees from vertical. The thing that is most different is the flanges where the carbs bolt on are not parallel to the flange that mounts to the head but each flange is tipped towards each other so either the carbs would be slightly pointed at each other or they would have a bent throat at the mounting flanges. I believe the intake is for 1 1/2in SU's I appreciate any comments you all might have. Chris *** http://www.team.net/the-local*** Your messages not reaching the list? Competition gear sets
Hi List, I was wondering if any of you have some odd ball competition gears for the 1962 - 1967 factory transmissions laying around. My buddy has my old gear box that uses these gears and we would like to pick up some spares, they are the same ratio's as the GT6 box but use the spit box internals.
