Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Stopping and other weirdness

2016-12-30 Thread rdeckard

I have now performed the following scans:

- Full scan after stopping the server and running the cache folder
cleanup option.
- Clear library and rescan everything.
- Look for new and changed media files.

Each time the scan finished successfully with NO errors in the server
log, but more importantly, the server is no longer longer stopping when
a scan completes!

Hopefully my scheduled 4am rescan will complete in the same fashion.

Everything is pointing to one or both of those plugins, or at least to
the files mentioned in the errors.
However, I am 100% certain that those files have been there for years,
so something must have changed on the server side.

I can't pinpoint exactly when or why this started happening, but as I
have no need for those plugins, problem solved!

Some more info - Server definitely stopping after any scan with those
same errors.
Figured I'd see if there were any plugins that were given those paths
listed in the errors.

Sure enough, had a plugin called "Picture Gallery" enabled - not sure
why it was there, possibly added long ago in order to use custom images
on my Radio (which I never did), but that is in fact where those paths
were being referenced.
I've disabled that and an "Image Browser" plugin, both by the same
author, Michael Herger. Hopefully this solves my issue. I'll know as
soon as the scan I just started is finished.

Not sure exactly when this problem started, but I guess those plugins
are no longer compatible.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS Stopping and other weirdness

2016-12-30 Thread rdeckard

Happy holidays everyone. I'm always thankful there's a place to go with
people who continue to develop and support what is probably the most
used "appliance" in my house ;)

Unfortunately, I've been having some issues lately and am hoping I can
get some insight or suggestions.

I've been installing the nightly builds pretty religiously for the past
year or so and things have been fine up until the past couple of
months.
I don't do much with my LMS server machine (Windows 7 x64, Core i7, 8GB
RAM), but I do keep whatever software is on there updated (including
Windows), etc.
I'll do my best to describe the symptoms and what troubleshooting I've
done so far.

For a while now, every time I've gone to use any of my Squeezeboxes
(Duet/Controller, Boom, Radio), they cannot connect to my LMS server.
I log into the server to find the LMS icon in the system tray gray,
indicating the server has stopped. I start the server and everything is
fine until the next time I go to use it (typically the next day).
Being that this seems to occur every day now, I looked towards possible
library issues, as I perform a scan every day at 4am.

This morning my 7am alarm in the Radio failed to go off (again). Of
course when I looked, the Radio could not connect to the server.

I looked at the server log and saw some strange things:

The scanner log appears normal/clean, but I do not have any extra debug
flags enabled other than the default at the moment.

My library points to a single directory on the local server, which has
shortcuts to folders on a single mapped network drive (another Windows
machine). I've used this config since day one without issue.
I do not have any options for pictures or other files to be included in
my library (I'm pretty sure 7.9 doesn't even let you do this anymore
anyway?).
What is most odd about this is that the the paths indicated in the
messages above are not defined ANYWHERE in my library or elsewhere that
I can see.
To clarify, D:\ is a local drive on the server, T:\ is another mapped
network drive on the server, neither of which are supposed to be in my
library.

Lastly (possibly unrelated), one recent afternoon, every Squeezebox in
the house came on full blast to some random track in my library (same
track on all players).
I had not touched anything since the day before and all devices were off
at the time.

If there are no potential solutions at this time, I'm thinking I should
go back to a 7.9 build from earlier this

Ever since Logitech dumped it we worried about the future protection of
our investments. You do not get much for free these days, and I for one
would be happy to make a regular donation to some kid of fund to
compensate the team for hard work. For me, the BBC IPlayer work has
been critical, but also the work Michael has put into the core code and
of course many contributions to keep things working with new streaming
services and formats. Some very clever people out there - many many
thanks.

2016-12-30 Thread Mnyb

What kind of players Radios ? or some raspi build ?

Usually hardware squeezeboxes that are "off" are still visible due to
that off is really just a software state .

However the Radio can be turned of completely by a long press on the
power button or by sitting unused on battery then it turns itself off by
that i mean really off , not just shoving ablack screeen or a clock .

Another option to loose all players is having players as software on
wifi conected phones or tablets, that goes on wifi sleep and droops of
the radar completely.

You will only see the last played content, when there is a player
conected and selected.

As both the OP's and my screenshots show, the player dropdown selectors
are empty.

The screenshot below shows the LMS webui for my PC where I have just
started LMS, there are *no players connected to this instance of LMS*,
so the playlist area is empty.

If I click on the player selector dropdown it shows the four
Squeezeboxen (Boom, loungeplayer, Radio & studyplayer) that are
currently connected to my network and powered up. These four players are
connected to another LMS instance running on a RaspberyPi.
*(LMSserver)*.

Selecting one of these players and connecting it to LMS on my PC will
then show the last played content for that player when it was last
connected to my PC's LMS.
