Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Album grouping buckets
FWIW: I wrote to the SQLite mailing list. And either I didn't describe the problem well enough, or there's no clear opinion about whether this is supposed to be working the way we expect it to work or not... Hm... the conclusion basically is: localization is difficult. From the SQLite mailing list: "Remember that fancy collations don't just look at 1 character at a time, they look at the whole thing, and can do surprising stuff based on that. In this case the order of preference for the collation looks like "when it's part of a larger word, then treating 'S' and 'Š' the same is more important than separating them. But when it's just 1 character then they're different. " TBH: I have no idea how to fix/work around this right now. I'm sure it could be done, but I fear that performance would suffer heavily if we had to implement this locally in LMS. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS on EX4100 prompts for update
I've been running LMS on a ReadyNAS for a few years, but have now switched to a WD EX4100. LMS keeps telling me an update (7.7.6) is available, but I can't seem to find the correct package for the WD. Can anyone point me in the right direction? How did you install it in the first place? -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] C-3PO plugin, a trnscoding helper.
Another few questions: * In player settings, Transcoder settings, if I uncheck stdlin for FLAC they no longer play at all. But setting it upsamples all FLAC to 768. Is there anyway of having FLAC upsample to the closest synchronous supported? * What is the default recommended Phase Response setting? Whats are the pros and cons of each setting? * DSD-128 and higher no longer play, but DSD64 does. I have the DSDplay plugin installed - is this interfering? Problem fixed! In transcoding helper settings page, the Buffer Size was set to 128. (is it that by default before multithread is checked?) Anyways set it to the recommended "32" for multithread and everything works perfectly and smoothly, even upscaling 352khz material. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] stream.mp3 and buffering
I have been using the http://lmsip:9000/stream.mp3 in an experiment to get Amazon Alexa device to act as a (sort of) LMS player. It works - but - there is a big lag between doing things forcing a "next track" event and the music changing. I suspect that this is because the device requests data up to an internal memory size limit so that it can buffer things to cover temporary delays in internet transmissions or a pause to allow an Alexa announcement to be played. Could there be a way for LMS to throttle how much it sends out (perhaps configurable per player) so that it stalls responding to GETs until it calculates that the device should have X seconds of data ahead of the calculated expected playout. If X was around 2-5 seconds then I suspect that it would make the response to Next Track and similar much more like a real device using Slimproto. Making it configurable per device (with default of no throttling) then this would not have unexpected side effects on other users of stream.mp3 I had a quick look at slimserver/Slim/Web/HTTP.pm and can see where it starts - but I didn't spot where I might be able to add code to do this sort of thing. Yes, I had a large Windows update as mentioned above. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Spaces in Player names?
The player name is described as being human readable and the example in the docs contains a space - as indeed does the default name for some Squeezebox devices Code: player name ? The "player name ?" query returns the human-readable name for the specified player. If the name has not been specified by the user in the Player Settings, then a default name will be used, usually the IP address. Example: Request: "player name 0 ?" or "0 player name ?" Response: "player name 0 Living Room" Avoiding the use of spaces may well be convenient and perhaps even sidesteps some bugs but it is not essential.
