I've also discovered that when I switched to the material skin, I was able to track down the exact files causing my genre issues. Does something show up there if you switch to material skin, then playlists, and then click on any playlists, you should be able to get some info about it. D'OH! In the worst type of faux pas -- I "discovered" tonight that the piCorePlayer Extras option other posters have mentioned IS STILL A THING. But it's not a item on the tab bar. It's a button on the Main Page that is only visible if Beta mode is selected. I mistakenly thought that the Tweaks item on the tabbar was some recent change that replaced the "old" Extras option. It is not. And now I've found it I have also found an "Asound" item on the sub-tabbar that appears when one selects this Extras button. And it does still offer an option to write a Mono section to the /etc/asound.conf file. I am as I type listening to mono-phonic output through my LMS system :-) I apologize for wasting your (plural) time. But nonetheless I still appreciate all of you who took the time to offer suggestions. I recently fought with genre's being cached even after updating files, or rescanning. My solution to clean genre info, was to move the music files out of library directory temporarily, clean& rescan, validate that your library is empty from ui, move them back in, and clean&rescan. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] System recently unstable - needs frequent restart
First my equipment: I have all my music on a WD Nas Server that also runs the Media Server software. The clients are two Squeezebox Duet (player + controller combo) and one Squeezebox radio. The problem is that I recently will have to restart the server very frequently. (Unplug power to Nas, wait 30 seconds and then re-connect power). Sometimes this does not help either so I will have to do same for one or more of the Duet players. Previously only time I have had to restart server has been after a power outage since the media server needs to start a little while after the router has connected to the internet in order for the clock to be OK. The version of the server software is 7.6.1. While I belive that there is a newer version available (have to figure out how to do all the settings on the NAS in case I need to install) I cannot really understand why the problem occurs in the first place since nothing in the setup has changed and it has been running just fine for years. Why that soon? There've been times when I've been two or three software versions behind, sometimes because of hardware (an unsupported iMac that still functioned perfectly), other times because of software. Once security updates are no longer provided, it's probably wise to run some sort of anti-virus, but every time a new MacOS comes out I always ask "Is there any new feature here I actually need?" Currently I'm still on 10.13 because I didn't seen anything particularly compelling for me in 10.14; I've got copies of the Mojave and Catalina installers stored locally here, but right now everything I use my Mac for continues to work, so I don't see much of a reason to upgrade other just because it's more convenient for Apple. [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Music Service Integration
As I'm using them more and more myself I find the separation of "My Music" and my library managed in a music service confusing (or at least cumbersome). Sometimes I'd like to play some random albums - but from the online library, too. Or a search for my favourite artist should bring up not only local tracks, but whatever album I've got favourited online, too. Therefore I'm currently toying with some ideas around better music service integration. One approach I'm exploring right now is how to include online tracks with the main library of my local music, giving me access to albums and tracks from music servicds as if I had them on my disk. I have something working for Spotify (because that's the service I'm using the most often...). But I'd obviously have to implement this for any supported music services... Would you be interested in such a feature? If so, which music service would you want me to tackle first?
