I delete everything in the cache folder except \InstalledPlugins every
time I rescan the library. Long story. You could try and delete the
playlists in \prefs, too.

That's what I'd do: Delete the clients' playlists, delete the cache
folder (except \InstalledPlugins).

But you seem to have some other kind of problem here. What happens if
you scan the classical library only?
