Sorry for so many replies, but it seems you don't see forum message

I also see there's full info in the currently playing track on the 8.0
system, it shows the Album title and Artist in addition to the track
title and duration. You'll have to view the screen clips in my first
post to see the differences between 7.9.4 and 8.0 displays.

Main system - Rock Solid with LMS 7.9.4 Official on WHS 2011 - 2 Duets
and Squeeseslave
Cabin system - Rock solid with LMS 7.9.3 Official on Win10 Pro - 1 RPi 3

A note on the 8.0 system. It shows both the Album Artist followed by the

I think Tunein search for Organlive only returns a single URL.s

Radio.net search for Organlive can returns 9 URLs. If you play the
playlist then use FFWD - you can skip from one URL to another. I'm
guessing the last URL is the 320k one.

Instead of playing the playlist btu you select the playlist - then you
choose which one of the 9 URLS to play - try the last one..

Radio.net provides no info on difference between the URLs - so it is a
case of trying and seeing.

In LMS 8.0 track display in the Classic skin shows the Artist tag in the

Are you sure they both are configured exactly the same? I would be

In the case of Organlive your OPML has a local icon image and not the
URL from Tunein.

Code:

  icon="/plugins/TuneIn/html/images/podcasts.png"

I just did a test of Audiophile Baroque and I got an image when playing
and the icon URLs are exactly the same. So there is something in your
setup that could be causing the problem.

The icon URL will be set when saved as a Favorites and should be shown
when you look at Favorites menu.
Do you get the station icon in the WebUI Favorites menu ? If not, what
skin are you using default or Material ?

Hi diode84,

On which display are you watching the "Now Playing" screen? LMS web
interface? Control app on smartphone? Jivelite on piCorePlayer?
Something else?

Reason for asking: I am using two smartphones for controlling my
Squeezebox players. One is a very old smartphone that runs an old
'Logitech Squeezebox Controller App'
on Android 2.3.6. I use this old app on this old phone since I could not
find a more recent app that can run on Android 2.3.6. With this
particular old smartphone + old controller app, I only get to see radio
station logos in the Now Playing screen when I use a particular "Artwork
resizing" in LMS. See screenshot below:

- "Artwork resizing" set to "Use mysqueezebox to resize artwork" =>
Station logos are shown in Now Playing screen
- "Artwork resizing" set to "Use Logitech Media Server to resize
artwork" => Station logos are not shown in Now Playing screen, while
the thumbnail (small station logo) in the playlist is still shown!

On the newer smartphone with Android 5 and another (Squeeze Ctrl)
control app, the station logos are displayed with both Artwork resizing
settings.
I have no idea why this Artwork resizing setting makes a difference for
the display of station logos on the old smartphone with old control
app.

I am not sure if this information is relevant for your problem, but it
may be worthwhile to check the Artwork resizing setting in LMS.

1. Activestate + SDK update

There's no SDK update. They dropped it and encourage people to stop
using it.

https://www.activestate.com/blog/perl-dev-kit-pdk-now-end-of-life/

2. Strawberry perl + PAR::Packer

A lot of unknowns indeed. Plus we'd have to re-invent some of the wheels
PDK offered out of the box, like running an application as a service, or
the toolbar icon etc. Unless we drop some of those goodies...

ActiveState suggests using Docker - which IMHO isn't end user friendly
enough yet. I was also toying with the idea of leveraging Windows 10's
Linux sub system. But again: a lot of today's user friendliness on
Windows would be gone.

If you're willing to put in the effort, I think it worth a go to see if
an updated IO::Sockets::SSL can be built with 5.14. At the very least,
it should give an indication whether this option is a non-runner.

That would be great indeed! I've been delaying it as my experience

Is it worth investigating whether a current IO::Socket::SSL with
dependencies could be built and we just continue to use the 5.14.2
activestate?

I still have the VM I used to build the Audio:Scan 1.02 module for
windows and could try to build a newer IO::Socket::SSL unless you have
already decided to abandon activestate.

Given that https situation is probably going to get worse. Are the
likely options
1. Activestate + SDK update
or
2. Strawberry perl + PAR::Packer

With Activestate - it probably requires buying a new SDK with relevant
licence to distribute. Could this happen ?

I'm guessing Strawberry Perl + PAR::Packer is an unknown - whether
there'll be LMS / Plugin / Paths compatibility issues and whether the
resultant Windows EXE is good/stable enough for LMS users.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS 8.0 repository problem

2020-09-15 Thread Michael Herger

It's a symptom of a larger issue we'll be facing with the Windows
builds: its outdated SSL library which can't easily be updated.

Is the difficulty to update SSL Library a Perl version (5.14 is too
old) issue or an Activestate one ?

I don't know whether 5.14 is too old to build an up-to-date
IO::Socket::SSL with dependencies. It would be one way to address this
issue. But compiling Perl dependencies on Windows is always a bit of a
struggle.

Updating Perl to get updated SSL support OTOH would require to re-build
all other dependencies...

Add to this that the Perl SDK we're using to bundle the application and
provide a service wrapper etc. is deprecated. ActiveState recommends NOT
to use it any more.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] TuneIn now useless for most non-UK stations

2020-09-15 Thread AlecSp

I'm using piCorePlayer 6.1.0, LMS 8.0.0 - 1599750927, Squeezebox Radio

A few US stations have stopped working for me this week (in the UK),
returning a 400 error. Browsing radio stations, there are now very few
stations left to browse - a shadow of the usual situation.

'This article'
confirms what I'd thought - that a copyright legal case has resulted in
TuneIn Radio removing access for UK users to most non-UK radio
stations.

Obviously, I can go and dig out direct streaming links for the stations
I want. But, these aren't always as well formed in terms of audio
formats, and artwork.

How are others handling this? Ideally, we'd move to an alternative
directory provider, but that would require a new plug-in, besides which,
the default plug-in is what everyone expects to use, and comes with LMS.

If the complete file is downloaded then that is not the problem.

However, changes were made to the plugin download code for 7.9.3 ... if
you cannot move to that version (or higher) then you could try to merge
in the changes ... (risky)

Even with that log settings LMS does not provide more information beyond
the file does not exist error. It now shows later in the startup that
the file is still being downloaded and replaced every time I restart. I
checked the file size in the LMS folder versus the file downloaded via
Firefox, it is the same. So it remains unclear why LMS cannot find a

Enable logging for plugin.extensions and server.plugins, check the "keep
