The upgrade worked great, thank you.
Didn't even disrupt my random playlists in progress.
That is a first as I recall.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Up-to-date NAS compatibility?

2022-03-13 Thread mark wollschlager

I set up LMS on a homebuilt TrueNAS Core system jail last night. It took
about 20 minutes to set up. The LMS app is available from a (long )list
of community supported stuff.
The jail is a FreeBSD VM, so it runs completely separate from the NAS,
though you can use storage on the NAS ( music, etc ).
Pretty straight forward. There is a 'plugin app' for LMS. The jail runs
on startup and does not use much resources.
TureNAS Core is 'free', I don't plan on using this in 'production'
because the hardware is all old stuff I had lying around. Good as a
proof of concept.
I plan to build or buy a new system to run TrueNAS Core or Scale.
TrueNAS scale allows running Docker containers so you are not limited to
FreeBSD for the LMS OS.

The steps above fixed it.

Not so much the old openssl or old Perl IO::Socket::SSL (v2.002). I have

So if logged in as root to the ReadyNas, what does this return?
apt list --installed |grep logitech
You should see only one listed, something like:
logitechmediaserver/now 8.2.1~1628312519 all [installed,local]

And what version of the ReadyNas OS6 are you running?

I was getting the ssl errors until I got rid of the lms_1.0.9_all.deb
package.
Now I can get add-on's , etc.

Do you still have the 1.09 App installed ?
You would still see the Logitech Media Server control on the ReadyNas
app page.
Uninstall that and reboot and see if the problem goes away.
That version is where the error comes from, it has it's own old perl
stuff.

Did reboot. Same thing.
Poking around a bit I see that systemd starts the application but I also
have a logitechmediaserver file in /etc/init.d dated April 9 2016.
Not being smart enough to know if I need both.
Stopping the /etc/init.d/logitechmediaserver stopped the error message
and the server still runs ( plays ).
Now this is the only error.

You should be able to install 8.1 through the Readynas web interface
without uninstalling.
I have upgraded multiple times ( 7.8 up to 8.1.0) without loosing
settings. I just shut down the LMS from the App page and then upload the
new version, wait for it to load and then start it up.

Try this link.
It is my copy of the file It was created by a guy from the Netgear forum
years ago, but it still works.
His dropbox seems to have gone away and I can't find another source.
It's a zip. Upload that first, then the other LMS file. If you already
uploaded the other , no problem.
This is a link to a copy on my google drive
'LMS_1.0.9all.deb'
There should be a download icon in the upper right of the page otherwise
it is blank. It should not require a login.
Please let me know if there is a problem with the link

I seem to be running into a problem of sorts with 7.9.1 on my readynas
516.
LMS works, but I am having trouble installing or changing plugins.
It looks like missing Perl modules. I tried to add them with CPAN and
got other errors.
Sadly I am one of those guys who goes for easy answers and stalls out
when it gets too messy.
Is it possible that the logitechmediaserver_7.9.1_all.deb would have a
more complete set of perl than logitechmediaserver_7.9.1_amd64.deb?
There are errors when I try to install or change plugins.:

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] ReadyNAS 102 running LMS 1.0.6 by Poussin(?), how to upgrade to LMS 7.9.1?

2017-11-16 Thread mark wollschlager

I got the 7.9.1 files from the nightlies uploaded and installed them and
then reinstalled the 1.0.9_all.deb which replaced the 1.0.6 a while
back.
You can get it here:
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ie9pwk1wut72ias/AAASNUx2cSo0TNIqRjNXime9a/Logitech%20Media%20server/7.8.0?dl=0
When I restarted the server the scan failed, I restarted a full scan and
all is well 7.9.1.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Security reminder! Don't open your Squeezebox up to the internet.

2017-08-15 Thread mark wollschlager

This should be sticky.
I talked to some people at a concert last week who have some kind of
home streaming to their phones ( Not LMS ).
I asked them about VPN, nope just made a hole. Like they saw a youtube
video on how to do it.
SMH.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Logitech Media Server 7.9 is out!

2017-04-05 Thread mark wollschlager

Will the LMS 7.9 show new versions available on the web page or do I
need to keep an eye out?
I was sort of keeping track of nightly updates when there was a
significant fix.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Dropping signal on Internet radio / music services

2016-10-27 Thread mark wollschlager

Been noticing the same thing.
No changes on my LMS server, and nothing on my router or cable modem
logs about errors or loss of signal.
It happens on both our Boom and receiver boxes with internet radio. Not
music streamed from the LMS library.
Some people with the same router ( Netgear Nighthawk R700 ) report
similar problems with wifi signal , but, it affects all devices.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Help please - Replacing a ReadyNas Duo V1

2016-02-18 Thread mark wollschlager

There is a "pre install" deb and then the LMS package deb. Load them in
the OS 6 web interface and install them, configure from the web
interface
The files are 'Here in the app devs dropbox'
I have been running the 7.8 for a year now. Very stable.
I did see some chatter saying that the latest update to the OS 6 broke
LMS. Did not break mine.
The official page of ReadyNAS apps is
http://apps.readynas.com/pages/?page_id=9. The LMS app is about half way
down on the right side. The "pre" install deb there is old at 1.0.6 and
a newer one is located in the dropbox location.
I believe that the latest 1.0.9 pre installer all will work with the 7.9
debian but I have not tried it. Yet.
