Thanks very much for this heads up. I wasn't aware of the info in the
linked post as I don't frequent the forum on a daily basis.

I've already made the change and LMS is now only reachable from within
my LAN.

Thanks again.

If you look at the screenshot I posted previously, you'll see that there
is no home page option to click on. No menu bar. No nothing.

But it doesn't matter at this point as all is well. See my reply to
mberger just before this one.

Thanks.

I do, but there's never been an issue like this previously. I think it
may have been the VPN, but I can't be certain.

The bottom line is that it's "fixed." Not so much "fixed" as normal
behavior has returned. I can (and have) moved the favorite to where I
want it. And the default GUI has returned.

Despite the issue appearing with Firefox, Chrome, and Edge, I restated
Firefox with all extensions disabled and everything worked as expected.
I restarted Firefox normally with the intent of disabling each extension
one by one until I found the culprit. But upon restart, with all
extensions still enabled, LMS works as it has previously. I've restarted
LMS and it still works. I've restarted Windows and it still works.

I'm not going to pretend that I know what happened, and I don't think
anyone needs to waste their time on this.

Thanks.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm not certain what you mean by "web skin.? If you're referring to Web
Interface of the LMS GUI, it's set to "Default." When I changed it to
Classic, it now appears like the screenshot below and I can't get out of
it. I had to use the PC where LMS lives and get to the GUI from Firefox
there. This is the GUI via Firefox on my main PC.

As for the server log, this shows from when I updated LMS to -8.2.1 -
1662271208 @ Sun Sep 4 08:03:02 WEDT 2022- yesterday morning. Two things
I noticed:
- In the second line (referring to radio station KPBS) it is -not- the
station that I just (re)added and can't be moved. And it plays just
fine.
- In the last line containing the two IPs, the first IP is (probably)
the VPN I was using at the time. The second IP is where LMS lives. The
issue occurs even when I'm not using a VPN.

Code:

  [22-10-20 08:01:31.4693] main::init (390) Starting Logitech Media Server
(v8.2.0, 1627922070, Tue Aug 3 11:28:42 WEDT 2021) perl 5.014001 -

to settings pages is restricted to the local network or localhost:

So now there are two issues:
- the original - how can I drag/move a favorite radio station link
within the existing list?
- how can I return the GUI back to default?

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can't Move Favorites

2022-10-20 Thread phred

Using LMS 8.2.1-1662271208 on Windows 10 Pro.

I've had this set up for years and have never experienced this issue.
The other day I noticed that one of my favorites was missing. Simple
enough so I launched the web GUI, drilled down to my favorites and it
wasn't there. I recreated it and it appeared at the bottom of the list
of favorites. It had previously been the third from the top. So I
click-dragged it into position, and the GUI went up one level. But the
newly added favorite didn't move.

The path I have set up is Home > Favorites > Over the Air Radio. There
are about a dozen favorites. The formerly missing, now newly added
favorite was created added under "Over the Air Radio. Yet when I drag it
up, it does not move. And the screen jumps up to Favorites. When I first
noticed this yesterday, I was using an LMS version from June. Updated to
the version listed at the top of this post with no change in behavior.

At first I thought it was just my Radio, but then noticed it also on my
Touch. That told me that the issue is with LMS. Thinking it may be a
browser issue, in addition to Firefox (default) I have the same behavior
with Chrome and Edge.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Ahhh ... I understand and will try to tackle that shortly. But why (how)
would this change without me doing anything on that PC? Could a Windows
update be responsible for that? LMS has been working fine and
automatically scanning for months. Even after the update to the current
LMS version.

Thanks for sticking with this.

UAC is disabled on that PC. The mapped/shared drive appears in file
explorer and the properties of the that mapped drive are full control
for the user that is logged in. The properties for LMS service show Log
On as a Local System account with full control.

Hmmm ... I just did and when clicking on the 'browse' button, the dialog
that comes up does not show the mapped drive (Z:\Music_Files) nor does
it show the network. So I can't even drill down to
\\phred\phred_Z_faux-nas\Music_File. When I typed the full network path
in manually and click 'apply' it disappears and reverts to
Z:\Music_Files. And manually initiating a full scan has the same result
as before.

Thanks for the reply, Paul.

Unfortunately that did not work. I changed both the media folder and the
playlist folder to the complete path on the other PC. And the scan did
the same thing as previously. Once I close the control panel GUI and
reopen it the changed paths are back to what they were (Z:\Music_Files,
etc.) What makes this weird, is that it's been working fine since the
initial LMS update a few weeks ago. The PC on which LMS lives runs
headless and I hardly ever look at it.

Here's the log:

Code:

[22-03-07 07:43:49.3191] Slim::Utils::SQLiteHelper::postConnect (377)
Optimizing DB because of missing or empty sqlite_stat1 table
  [22-03-07 07:43:49.3267] Slim::Schema::forceCommit (2177) Warning: Trying to
commit transactions before DB is initialized!

I'm thinking about going back to my previous 8.2.0 or even 7.9.4
versions to see if they exhibit the same behavior. I'll wait to see if
there are any further suggestions before I do this.

On a side note, at some point during the overnight, the display of
Super, Date, and Time (via a Custom Clock screensaver) disappeared from
the Radio (not the Touch.) restarting LMS and the Radio did nothing to
bring it back.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Not Scanning Media

2022-03-06 Thread phred

I've been running LMS 8.2.1 - 1644703015 since mid-February on a Windows
10 Pro PC with no problems until today.

LMS does a scheduled scan of my media and playlists at 6pm daily. Today
I noticed that while it had run, there was no media accessible on my
Touch or Radio. I opened up the LMS GUI and saw a message about needing
a firmware update and followed the link to install the Version
Comoparison Fix. I did that on both devices and the warning message on
LMS went away. But a forced scan is still not showing any media.
Watching the Media Scan Details I see it doing a Directory Scan followed
by Database Optimize and then it stops. The media folders and playlist
folder are showing the correct paths, but when I close the LMS GUI and
reopen it, the playlist folder field is blank.

[Ten minutes later...]
I think I now see what's going on. A few months ago all the music and
playlist files were on a NAS (\\11-NAS\Music_Files) but that was
disconnected about two weeks ago. The files are on another PC on the LAN
(\\phred\phred_Z_faux-nas\Music_Files) which is mapped as drive letter Z
on the PC where LMS lives. Looking at the server log, LMS is still
trying to search the old path:

Code:

[22-03-06 21:36:48.3351] Slim::Formats::readTags (176) File missing:
\\11-NAS\Music_Files\Willie Bobo\Bobo Motion\7 - Evil Ways.mp3

Despite shutting down and restating LMS, and despite shutting down and
restating Windows, the old path is still showing up on a scan. I have
run a cleanup (clean cache folder, including media library database...)
and the scan still is showing the old path.

At this point I'm at a loss as to how to get rid of the old path. And
how to get the playlist folder field to remain persistent.

Thanks.

You are correct in that the playlists point to the tracks as
\\server\path.

And the playlist directory is W:\ which is now a mapped drive on the PC
where MusicBee lives. For whatever reason, the PC where LMS lives
wouldn't accept the UNC path either to the music files on the NAS
(mapped as Z:) nor to the playlist directory on the other PC (mapped as
W:).

Everything seems to be working now. You know the expression "If it ain't
broke, don't fix it" so I'm not going to change anything until it all
goes south. Until then, there are playlists to listen to.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy

Here's the final (manual) scan results. The playlists are back in the
scan. And the number of tracks showing in the control panel has once
again jumped to about 20k more than the actual number of tracks. So the
tracks referenced in the playlist are definitely being added to the
total count of tracks. Now that I understand the reasons for the
mismatched count, I will leave the scanning to "look for new and changed
media files" and let it run automatically once every twenty-four hours.

And just a note - before you tell me that there were 92 playlists
originally and now there are 91 discovered and 89 scanned, I deleted
one. And two of them are MusicBee playlists that are in the playlist
directory, but are only readable by MusicBee. So it's not an issue.

It seems there were only a couple of hundred tracks that had APE tags
(along side ID3v2) and I deleted all the APEs. I then scanned "clear and
rescan library" and now the results match. But surely the removal of APE
tags from a couple of hundred tracks couldn't account for the huge
discrepancy in excess of 20,000 files. But I'm not going to lose any
sleep over this. I got a match and I'm happy.

Thanks for reminding me. I never realized I had APE tags until I saw
them referenced on the log. I -thought- they were all being saved as
ID3v2.3 and ID3v1. I -think- MusicBee can do a search and replace. I'll
need to look into that. I'm sure MP3TAG can do it.

Once I get the APE eliminated, I'll do another full clear and rescan
scan and post the results. Should be by the weekend if not before.

The music file directory on the NAS is mapped as "Z:" on the PC where

be explained with PCs. :o

Not thirty minutes ago my wife told me she can't log on to our banking

LMS lives on the C: drive of a Win10 Pro PC.
The playlists are on the D: drive of the same machine.
All the music files are on a NAS.

There are no music files anywhere else. Not even the music listed in the
playlists, which as you know, are only text files, which point to the
actual music file on the NAS.

My music manager is MusicBee. It lives on another Win10 Pro box.
Whenever there's a change to a playlist, MusicBee automatically updates
the playlist. Which is exported to the box where LMS and the playlists
live. The path referencing each track in a playlist is mapped to the
NAS. There are no music files whatsoever on that machine. Here's a
sample line from a playlist:

Code:

File4536=\\192.168.xxx.xxx\Music_Files\Neil Young\New York 1970\7 -
Helpless.mp3

Which, at least in my case, is somewhat redundant. If it's in one of my
playlists, it's in my library. And since I have some playlists that are
"decades" (1940s, 1950s, etc) there could be a huge number of
"duplicates." Just one example: my 1970s playlist consists of 6,308
tracks. So that 59-thousand and change that showed earlier, consisted of
6,308 tracks that are in a playlist and in my library. Other decades
playlists have a large number of tracks also.

It would be nice if one could specify which playlists to include as LMS
can display songs by year. So I could not scan the nine decades
playlists.

It really doesn't matter at this point as I (we) now know what's going
on and why.

Again - thanks to everyone who pitched in.

Uninstalling the plugin and starting a new clear and rescan resulted in
a complete scan. Thank you for that.
But the numbers remain pretty much the same.

I'm going to chalk it up to what a couple of folks here said - it's
including not only the files, but the directories also.
And I'm satisfied that the scan is running properly and I don't really
have to look at the statistics again unless something really screwy
happens.

Thanks to all who replied.

Except everything being scanned is on a NAS and the only files in the
directory being scanned are MP3, .txt (lyrics,) and .jpg (artwork.)
There is no Spotify. There is no OneDrive.

But there is definitely a problem somewhere. I initiated a 'clear and
rescan all' and the scan apparently hung at "building full text index (3
of 7) as that phase of the scan has been running for almost three hours
and the only thing changing is the elapsed time. Could this be a corrupt
database? A corrupt media file? I'm am aborting the scan.

Suggestions? Fixes?

If I'm mistaken it's because LMS didn't do what I selected. I do see the
difference in your two screenshots. As I stated, I selected "clear
library and rescan everything." If that's not what LMS is doing (did)
then someone will have to show me how to correct that.

I am about to run a clear and rescan right now and I will report back
later today when I have some time.

No, no cue sheets. All music files are MP3. And there are no streaming
service files present.

Most tracks have lyrics as a separate text file within the directory
where the album lives. And each album has an artwork (cover) image in
the same directory.
Is it possible those are being counted?

I suppose that's a possibility as each artist has their own directory,

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Media Count Discrepancy

2021-04-04 Thread phred

Using LMS 7.9.4 - 1603273368 one a Win10 PC.

I have LMS set to do a media scan daily at 1845. Usually just an update
of new and changed files. I've been noticing that during the past few
days the scan numbers don't match the actual results. Today I did a
"clear library and rescan everything" and the numbers are even odder
than previously. As you can see in the screenshot, it's showing total
tracks at 59,786 which discovering 38,856. The lower number is closer to
reality, which is actually 36,347. I don't really care much (at this
point) in a 2,500 track difference. But I do care about a difference of
more than 20,000. Can anyone explain why that might be happening? And
more importantly, how to correct it?

Thanks.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Two Radios, Same Icon, Two Sizes

2020-12-31 Thread phred

Running LMS 7.9.3 on a Win10 Pro Box.

I just picked up a second Radio and in the process of setting it up I
noticed the favorites icon takes up the full screen of the Radio. With
the Radio I've been using for quite some time, and is still being used,
the favorites icon is smaller. It's about an inch square with black
borders on all four sides that are about half an inch wide. I much
prefer the smaller icon. How can I make the new Radio show it at the
same size?

Thanks.

That sure sounds like that could explain the 'new' view. But I never
changed it. At least not knowingly. And now that I've changed it to the
default view, the original settings shortcut is now working as
expected.

Thanks very much for the help. I was planning on spending most of the

Thanks. I'm familiar with that button and should have thought of using
that. However, the 'remote' UI looks completely different than what it
used to look like and a) the button doesn't appear, and b) this new(?)

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can't See Control Panel in Browser

2020-03-30 Thread phred

A seemingly very odd problem has developed where using my browser to
reach the control panel UI, the browser shows a blank page. I don't
recall when this started, but today I updated LMS from 7.9.2-1568726655
to 7.9.3-1584993250 and the problem still exists. I rolled back to
7.9.2-1564788734 and it was still displaying nothing. Finally I tried
7.9.1-1504317335 but that too didn't work. Something must have changed
on my side since all these versions, with the exception of 7.9.3,
allowed me to connect to the control panel via a browser. I've also
noticed that when manually starting LMS it needs to be 'run as
administrator' and I don't recall that happening previously.

LMS lives on a Win10 Pro machine that runs headless. Trying to reach the
control panel from my main machine (Win10) using Waterfox, Firefox, or
Chrome winds up at a blank page. I have restarted Firefox and Waterfox
with all extensions disabled. No change. I connected to the LMS Win10
machine via VPN and tried a browser there with the same results.

I -can- use the control panel directly from the machine where LMS lives,
but that's not what I want to do. From any browser I can reach the
'remote' GUI so I know it's connecting to the server. And both my Touch
and Radio are working with no issues.

The URL I'm using to reach the control panel UI is
http://192.168.x.xxx:9000/settings/index.html?player=00:04:20:2a:8b:8d

Does anyone have a clue as to what's going on here? And how do I get it
working again?

Thanks.

Yes, I understand that. All my playlists are good and with the correct

This is not turning out to be as easy as I thought it would be.
Playlists are not an issue. There's only one of each.

It's the actual music files that are being duplicated. As stated
previously, one set is coming from Z:\ and the other is coming from
\\192.168.x.xxx. Which are the same location. Z:\ is the IP mapped as a
drive letter. From the LMS console I have unchecked the music folder (it
was showing as the IP) and did a rescan, which removed all the files. I
then entered the IP of the NAS and did another scan and now there are no
dupes.

Thanks to all who provided advice.

Ahhh ... silly me. Thanks again.
I know see what the problem is... all my music is stored on a NAS, which
is mapped to drive letter Z. One location path for each album are Z and
the other is the IP of the NAS.

Should be easy enough to fix. And I found a great little feature of LMS
that I didn't know existed.

Thanks very much.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Duplicate Albums

2019-09-27 Thread phred

For many years I was running LMS on an old Win7 box with minimal issues.
That computer gave up it's ghost a couple of weeks ago and I moved LMS
to a Win10 machine. Again, it's been working fine. Currently running LMS
7.9.2 -1564788734.

Since I usually listen to Internet radio stations on my Touch and Radio,
I hadn't looked at any of my music since the relocation of LMS to the
new machine. But I did today and I notice that every album is showing
twice. The first thing I did was to "clear library and rescan
everything." When that didn't change anything I ran "Clean cache folder,
including media library database, artwork cache, etc. That too changed
nothing.

At this point I'm looking for suggestions on why I'm seeing dupes, and
how to remove them.

Thanks.
