Not yet, this is the first alternative to iPeng I've tried. I've had iPeng running for a while, originally with a Win XP machine, but whilst it worked for a while, it has/had a tendency to 'lose its place' every so often, and I would go to use it after periods of non-use, and find the SBT responding with "Unable to connect to (PC name)" or similar. I would then have to do some fiddling around to persuade it to restart. Sometimes resetting the SBT with the resest button on the back. At the moment, with LMS, I can get the SBT working fine with touch commands and the SBT remote, but iPeng is totally disconnected from the system - previously, it showed the SBT name as the active player, but I'm getting a "No players found" message whenever I start it up on the tablet. I've restarted the tablet, restarted iPeng numerous times, to no effect. To complicate matters, I got rid of the XP machine a few months back, and now running LMS on a Win 10 machine. formbypc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52157 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117256 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Are there any decent Android controller apps for LMS on Windows, running an SBT ?
Getting back to your original query, have you tried any of the free native Android apps such as Squeezer, Squeeze Ctrl and, the new kid on the block, Open Squeeze? All are very capable and each has its own unique features, such as Squeeze Ctrl's ability to cast the artwork and other track info to any Chromecast display --- nice for those holiday parties. I have all of them installed and rotate among them often, mostly for testing changes to the AVR Settings menus in the Denon/Marantz AVR Control plugin, on which I am a developer. That being said, I am among the many converts to the Material Skin camp with its associated APK. It really is in a class by itself when it comes to functionality, user friendliness, customizability (is that a word?) and just about any other standard that can be applied. Squeezer is probably my second choice. It is fast, reliable and, like Material Skin, actively maintained. I see what you're saying. I think that is true. LMS can be self-contained (local host or network only) and it runs fine. But adding Plugins will require an internet connection if they're not part of the "standard" set. Is the Material Skin being considered as part of the Standard Set (default and classic)? Yes. It's basically a website that is created and run by LMS. It can be opened using localhost, or, as I do, on my local router network 192.168.1.X. No need for an external network connection. But you are right, that functions that require network access cannot work - no streaming, no automated update downloads, etc. But LMS does not require an available internet connection to function. Just had a thought, will Material still work if not connected to the internet? How can one install plugins? Anyway, the Music and Artist Information plugin certainly won't work. 39492 +---+ |Filename: Mat004.jpg | |Download: http://forums.slimdevices.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=39492| +---+ *Server - LMS 8.3.0 *RPi4B 4GB/NanoSound ONE case/pCP 8.1.0 - 75K library, playlists & LMS cache on Sata SSD (ntfs) *Lounge* - DAC32 - AudioEngine B2 *Office* - RPi 3B+/HiFiBerry DAC HAT/RPi screen - Edifier D12 *Bedroom* - Echo Show 8 *Spares* - 1xSB Touch, 1xSB3, 4xRPi, AVI DM5 speakers kidstypike's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10436 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117256 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

+1 for Material, I don't use anything else these days, Android phone, tablet or PC. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Are there any decent Android controller apps for LMS on Windows, running an SBT ?
I use the Material skin of the web client. It's the only controller I now use for desktop or Android OS devices. It's fully functional and is IMO very well designed with both light and dark modes. It recognizes small screens versus "regular" web browsers on a desktop reconfiguring its UI depending on device orientation. I open it in Google Chrome then use Chrome's 'Save to desktop' to create a tapable object on my phone's screen. Opens right to the LMS client obscuring the Chrome UI elements. And it's under active development with regular updates. Highly recommended. Regards. So you have LMS on the windows PC. Install the Material Skin plug in. Point any browser at http://winpc-ip:9000/Material. Configure settings as required. There is also an android apk (lms-material) which you can use in place of a browser. castalla's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=15624 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117256 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Are there any decent Android controller apps for LMS on Windows, running an SBT ?
I have an SBT, connected via a standard home router, via Ethernet, to a Windows 10 PC which holds my Music Library. A long time ago, I downloaded iPeng to my iPad of the time, and for a while, this was fine, but a bit flakey. The only purpose the router serves is to connect the SBT to the PC, and to provide WiFi connection for the controller app on iPad or similar. It's not internet-connected, it's not connected to anything else in the house. The iPad is long past its best, I've since moved on to a more recent iPad, and from there to Android tablet. There's also an Amazon Fire in the house available for me to use. Are there any decent Android (or Fire) controller apps, similar to iPeng, which would allow me to control my LMS and SBT from my armchair? formbypc's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=52157 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=117256 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
