If I were you, I’d consider abandoning LMS in that rather ancient SSOTS
environment.
There is QLMS now, where updating is much easier to handle and with a
more modern environment.
Please check out this Forum.

Hello! I'm having exactly the same problem with my QNAP system, but this
solution hasn't done it for me. That line 68 for me originally said
"CPAN/arch/*/*/Compress/Raw/Zlib.pm", so I tried removing one of the
"/*" bits to give just "CPAN/arch/*/Compress/Raw/Zlib.pm" as suggested,
but it's made no difference. Quite clearly I have no idea what I'm
doing...

I've had a look in my server.log file and found this (not sure if it's
relevant!):

Code:

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can't add any 3rd party plugins

2018-06-19 Thread zwep

Hello,

I have a problem very similar to

https://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107496-Can-t-add-any-3rd-party-plugins

Where I cant install plugins... when I go to my Plugin page I can select
certain 3rd party plugins (like Spotty, or Youtube, or any other). After
I press 'Apply' and restart the server I would assume that the selected
plugins are now listed under 'Active' plugins.
But this does not happen, they are just back (unselected) under '3rd
party plugins'. Sometimes it happens that they fall under a new section
called 'Update available for plugins' (or something similar), but when I
select them, Apply the changes, and restart the server again.. they will
be brought back (unselected) under '3rd party plugins'.
This happens with several 3rd party plugins I tried. If I want to enable
certain plugins that were turned off, then it all works fine. So my
guess it that somehow somewhere it can't get a certain 'package'..

I am running LMS on Centos 7 using my HP ProLiant server at home. Having
LM version 7.9.2 (the latest one I could download).

If anyone can help then that would be great!

Unless you have an exact match - it is better to start a new thread and
to provide details of your own set - you will get more "new" eyes - a
lot of people (who could help you) may ignore posts this thread as it
was initially QNAP oriented.

For specific plugins - I'd always advise posting to the plugin Thread -
that way you'll probably get the author especially as some plugin have
speical requirements.

You indicated that some plugins do not install - which implies some DO
install which means this thread is not appropriate and your problem is
probably plugin specific. Is this the case ?

Spotty - requires an executable which may or may not be available for
your platform - so I suggest post your query to the Spotty thread (

SSODS and SSOTS are for special version for QNAP NAS and some other
brand of NAS I can't remember with own Linux base.

What hardware and OS does your LMS run under ?

LMS updates are usually done via a package. If a standard distro there
is usually a build / reposiotry for your distro. The latest version
depends on distro - packages for main distro and OS such as Debian,
Windows, OSX are available from slimdevices.com

Most Plugin (LMS & 3rd Party) are mainly from LMS Web GUI -
Settings/Plugins page. Plugin U[date are done bvia this page as well.

LMS development is now via community (mainly mherger). Current "release"
is 7.9.2 and also other updates as they are made via github
respository.

Cache directory is for LMS user only - users should not go near it
directly /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/updates/

Are you looking for a plugin update - if not then create your own topic
?

Hmm, Im not sure if I understand it completely.. because I dont know
anything about SSODS or SSOTS..

If I would update my LMS, I would just do this via the command line on
my server. Because I believe the updates will be available in this
location
/var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/updates/

so from there I would execute the necessary files I guess. But I dont
think newer versions will come out for LMS right? I have version 7.9

Sorry. This cited snippet was for LMS in QNAP. I don’t know if yours
needs the SSOTS environment and to be true, I doubt it.
How do you update your LMS? You‘d need the SSODS web interface if so.

Hello, can you help me with these commands?

I got my LMS running on my own Centos 7 Server... since I cant find
/opt/ssods4 folder there.. I wonder how I should stop it I have
looked at the Server.log but the only thing I see there is some SSH-key
error, which cant be related to this...

edit: running LMS version 7.9 btw

It really does sound as if the DNS is not set up on your vortexbox. Do
ask on their forum (www.vortexbox.org) about how to check and set this
up.

LMS 7.9.1 on VortexBox Midi box, Xubuntu 17.04, FLACs 16->24 bit,

LMS plugin UPnP/DLNA Bridge to MF M1 CLiC (to A308CR amp & ESLs) &
Marantz CR603 UPnP renderers.
Alternatively Minimserver & Upplay to same & to upmpdcli/mpd PC
renderers.
Squeezelite to Meridian USB Explorer DAC to PC speakers/headphones.
Wireless Xubuntu 17.04 laptop firefox/upplay or Android 'phone with

I've noticed something interesting. I downloaded the Windows desktop
version of LMS and all the 3rd Party plugins are listed and available,
but the same version in my Vortexbox still does not list them or make
them available in the "Additional Repositories" option. Perhaps an
uninstall might be the answer?

Anyway, the Oppo picks up my desktop LMS in its network function so I'll
use it to listen to my music files.

I'm running Vortexbox v2.3 so I will update to v2.4 as there is a new
LMS available for that version only.

I still have the problem with my Squeezebox Touch that it will not
install 3rd Party plugins but I will worry about it later.

I just feel that I have been head butting a brick wall for the past 3-4
weeks and I'm tired of it. I'm getting used to using the Oppo app and I
am getting the benefit of hearing my music files through its AKM DAC.

Many thanks to everyone, especially PasTim, for trying to help.

Do you mean you can 'ping' the IP address from the vortexbox? What
exactly have you tried? If doing a ping with an IP address that does
not use DNS. DNS translates a URL into an address. It may well be that
you don't have a DNS server properly configured. I suggest asking the
vortexbox forum on how they configure the systems.

Yes, I did upgrade from an older version of LMS about 2-3 months ago -
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?107108-LMS-Update-Procedure=vortexbox

To be honest, LMS has not been running smoothly since then. I'm
certainly not blaming the release - I think it's probably more because I
tend to "fiddle around" a bit with LMS via CryptoTerm after I read
certain posts, but I don't really know what I'm doing!

I think that I would like to uninstall then reinstall LMS and would
appreciate the instructions.

I don't like bothering you guys with my problem, and it makes me look
like a complete dick!

I thank you all for your attempts to help me.

I can access the Vortexbox IP address - does that mean the DNS is
working OK?

I could see the UPnPbridge plugin xml using the Google browser on my
Windows 7 PC. When I went to the URL it automatically started
downloading the file which I saved on by desktop page (just in case).

on the vortexbox or a different system? Can you check your DNS is
working OK on the vortexbox?

There are other older posts about missing 3rd party plugins that refer
to an 'extension downloader' plugin (see
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?99182-Third-Party-Plugins-Unaccessable=752486=1#post752486)
. This plugin doesn't seem to be present in LMS 7.9.0. I wonder if you
have upgraded from an older version of LMS and this extension was
somehow disabled and has stayed that way. I'd certainly delete the
cache.db file, and try reinstalling LMS to see if the 3rd party plugins
re-appear.

Makre sure the URL in the plugins tab looks like

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/project/lms-plugins-philippe44/repo-sf.xml

and not this

http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...44/repo-sf.xml

I'm more interested in what server hardware you're using, what OS
version, LMS version, server.log file etc.

Hi Michael. Thank you for your reply.

I apologize for not providing my system information. Not used to
posting, only reading.

I run LMS in my Vortexbox which is plugged directly into my modem. I
stream the music files through my Squeezebox which is connected direct
to my Denon AVR in the lounge room by optical cable (I hope that's the
system info you mean).

This problem first surfaced about one month ago when I bought an Oppo
UDP-203 blu-ray player. I had read some comments where people had been
able to connect their SBT to it to take advantage of the AKM DAC that is
in the player.

>From what I could find it seems that I connect via USB between the SBT
and the Oppo and have the "Enhanced Digital Output" applet installed
(which it has been for quite sometime now), and have the Oppo connected
to the Denon AVR analogue.

I had no success with this. I then noticed the "EDO Release Kernel" and
"USB Test Kernel #7" Kernel Installer setting so tried to install them
too. As I said in my first post, every time I tried to download them it
would indicate thet were downloading, the SBT would reboot, but they
would still appear in the Kernel Installer.

I've also tried the optical connections between the SBT and Oppo and 3-4
factory resets with no success. After a factory reset had no problems
getting LMS up-to-date.

So, in frustration, I decided to use the Oppo UDP-20X smartphone app
instead. Whilst this picks up the LMS in the VB and allows me to play my
music files using the AKM DAC (the files do sound sensational BTW!) it
is very "clunky" and not as good as the Squeezer app I used before. No
gapless playing and it won't allow you to pick one song at-a-time and
make up a playlist whilst the songs are playing. You have to wait for
the song playing to finish before you can pick another one to play.

So that is my situation. I'm afraid I'm very much a Newbie when it comes
to actually delving into the "guts" of the SBT so I don't know how to
access the server.log.

Sorry!

The URL applied in the repository appears at the top of the Plugins page
"Bad repository http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...44/repo-sf.xml -
404 Not Found", but I am able to access this URL via Google and download
it to my Windows desktop.

Do you lack the IO::Socket::SSL module on your system? Check your
server.log. right after the restart there might be a warning about SSL.

And a little more information about your system might help, too.

I am also having the same problem running "Logitech Media Server
Version: 7.9.0 - 1488878280 @ Wed Mar 8 14:00:59 UTC 2017" in a
Vortexbox.

Have been trying to install philippe_44's "squeeze2upnp" plugin but
every time I add the repository to the "Plugins" page and click APPLY
the page flickers briefly than comes back exactly the same.

There are no plugins page near the bottom of the page under "Philippe's
LMS Plugins", nor is there any 3rd party list and no associated check
box.

The URL applied in the repository appears at the top of the Plugins page
"Bad repository http://downloads.sourceforge.net/pro...44/repo-sf.xml -
404 Not Found", but I am able to access this URL via Google and download
it to my Windows desktop.

I have also noticed, on my Squeezebox Touch, that I cannot download "EDO
Release Kernel" or "USB Test Kernel #7" from the Kernel Installer
setting. Each time they download they appear back in that setting.

I tried to use the Putty command to stop SSOTS
"/opt/ssods4/etc/init.d/rc.ssods stop" but it returns the message "-sh:
/opt/ssod4/etc/init.d/rc.ssods: not found" (please note that this is the
first time I have used Putty).

Would greatly appreciate some help. Thanks.

1. Use Putty to stop SSOTS. Command is: /opt/ssods4/etc/init.d/rc.ssods
stop
2. Use WinScp to get to /opt/ssods4/share/sbs/ and open
shipped-binaries
3. In shipped-binaries, change line 68 to include “arch/*”. It becomes
CPAN/arch/*/Compress/Raw/Zlib.pm
4. Use Putty to start SSOTS. Command is: /opt/ssods4/etc/init.d/rc.ssods
start

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Can't add any 3rd party plugins

2017-06-09 Thread Plums

I have a weird issue with LMS 7.9.1 (installed on a qnap NAS) whereby I
can't install third party plugins. If I select a plugin and restart as
requested it just doesn't show up in the installed list. Scroll down and
there it is in the uninstalled list as if I hadn't done anything.
Sometimes it shows "an updated version of x plugin is available" at the
top of the page after I try and install, but if I choose to update the
plugin then I get the same result. It seems to happen with *any* 3rd
party plugin I try to install.

I have tried disabling and enabling an already installed plugin (I
tested with the flickr plugin) and that works absolutely fine.

Anyone have any ideas? It's really irritating, I just want to install
spotify protocol handler!
