Right click the shortcut and do Properties, Compatibility. Run this
program as an Administrator

I've found that several apps that ran under Win 7 require elevated
privileges on Win 10; EAC and CUERipper for instance.

My migration to Win 10 is pretty much complete, but not without
setbacks. Yesterday morning I wasted two hours trying to figure out why
I couldn't remote in using any of my available browsers. Finally, it
dawned on me to try port 9001. Yup, LMS had for some reason jumped
ports.

Thanks to all for the help and suggestions.

Have a read about “elevated privileges”. In short although your user may
be an Administrator in Windows 10 there is still one higher authority.
When you do “run as administrator” you are invoking that higher
authority.

Was that a right click on the .exe and "run as admin"install?

I don't run LMS to start until I want to use it (I run a raspberry pi
for my LMS)

When I do want to run it, I start from the system tray, have you tried
that ?

There is an option to run the Control Panel as Admin

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to move LMS to a new machine?

What I would do.

Remove W7 disk from machine and put safely to one side.
Insert new SSD go to BIOS and make it the bootable disk.
Install W10 on it and install LMS but not configure.
Shut down PC
Add old W7 disk as second non bootable drive.
You won't be able to do dual boot but you will have access to all your
W7 files.

If you really find that you need to boot into W7 for some obscure reason
then disconnect W10 drive and set BIOS accordingly.

2022-11-11 Thread Man in a van

This would be me:

Take a screen shot of all Favourites, My Apps and any Podcast urls that
are installed on the Win 7 Partition.

Take a screenshot of all Plugins and any Additional Repositories
installed on the Win 7 Partition.

E-mail the screenshots to myself

On the new Windows 10 Partition Install the required version of LMS
(right click and run as Admin).

Go to the e-mails and copy the required info a step at a time onto the
new LMS with a few restarts in between processes.

Once finished prevent the LMS on the Win 7 partition from starting at
boot.

But that's just me

Can one have a Windows 32 bit partition and a Windows 64 bit partition
on the same Hard Disk ?

Just askin' :)

That will cover the main stuff. Just to complete the list

You have your music folders to remap.
You may have firewall settings that popup
if you are running any clients on the LMS server then they will
probably get a new Id and this will affect any settings you have saved
against them
Also any control apps and clients will need to be pointed at the new
server.
I have LMS running as a service on Windows 10, I don't know if you are
doing that on Win 7 - but it means that it starts when the machine
starts

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to move LMS to a new machine?

2022-11-10 Thread Apesbrain

Time has come for me to update from Win 7 x86 to Win 10 x64. Going from
x86 to x64 I can't do an "upgrade" so it will be a clean install. I
plan to image my existing Win 7 system onto a larger SSD leaving a
second partition for Win 10 to be set up in dual-boot.

As for LMS, I plan to:
1. Install LMS 8.3 under Win 10
2. Stop all LMS processes
3. Copy from Win 7 partition:
- The entire contents of my C:\PROGRAM FILES\SQUEEZEBOX folder
- Any %appdata% folders having to do with LMS or its plugins; currently
none
- Any %programdata% folders having to with LMS or its plugins; currently
INGUZEQ and SQUEEZEBOX
4. Reboot and perform a "clear and rebuild library" rescan.

Have I missed anything necessary to have my new installation of LMS
behave exactly like my old one? Thanks.
