A lot of the delay is I/O, so local libraries on SSD or at least HDD well and truly beats networked libraries. If it bothers you move the archive; put some storage on your LMS box and provide it a local copy of your media. -- Hardware: 3x Touch, 1x Radio, 2x Receivers, 1 HP Microserver NAS with Debian+LMS 7.9.0 Music: ~1300 CDs, as 450 GB of 16/44k FLACs. Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to reduce scanning time
-Only download pictures for main artists, but not all contributors (composers, conductors etc.- I just tried enabling the -Find artwork online during library scan- option and it increased the scan time by 3-4 times. This is needless, since all my files have artwork. The artist pictures shown in iPeng must be downloaded without this enabled, since they appear in my Artist and Album Artist menu in iPeng. Well, you trade scan time performance against run time performance. The scan will be faster but then the plugin will download the images when you need them. Plus: if you store the images in a folder for future use, the plugin would use them without checking online. -- Michael ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] How to reduce scanning time
I am never bothered by scans. In the Control Panel go to Advanced Settings. When the screen opens up click on the Advanced Button. Then Re-scan Music Library and set it to do the type of scan you want when you know you will not be listening. I run a look for new and changed media files scan daily at 2 AM while sleeping. No problem. If you add new music you want to listen to right away a look for new and changed media files scan only takes a few minutes. I am using 7.9.0. w 37k files. Even w earlier versions of LMS the look for new and changed is quick. dasmueller's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38035 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=107048 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

How can I speed up the scanning? I just want to listen my saved playlists. So, It will be okay for me if there is no meta information or as minimum as possible for songs.
