My music collection is only about 175G. I have a 256G SD card and was thinking about setting up a LMS server on a new Raspberry Pi 3. That would be a big step up from my Mac Mini. But hey, if it ain't broke... ;-) HokieKev's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=65486 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105288 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

The Step from 1 Gb to 2 GB - even under tux - was a really big step cause Michael adds some magic handling for using the RAM more efficient (if there is some unused) My Mac SE has a 80 MB SCSI Harddisk with 4 MB Ram using MAC OS 7.6 using a Appletalk to Ethernet 10m/bit Converter :o Gruss Jan DJanGo's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1516 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=105288 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

It is a bit of a hassle to open these old cases so it might make sense to do that. The thing is 10 years old though. Not sure how cost effective it would be to upgrade ram. This is actually a dedicated device which runs LMS and does nothing else. As long as it can do that one task - stream an ALAC or MP3 (320) file to the hard wired Ethernet port - which it seems to do just fine - I am not sure if I care how fast it is for general use.
