I finally got the latest (11/20) update to run by disabling several
third party plugins (title switcher, trackstat and trackstat playlist -
most likely these plugins haven't been updated in awhile) since I either
don't use them or haven't used them in quite some time.

Thanks again for your help!

Michael, thank you - on a very first glance, the update has helped and
LMS is running again. So again a Perl incompatibility.

Good catch - I got confused on the testing vs unstable, I am running the
"more stable" development version, i.e. "testing" aka Buster/sid. That
system is not running unstable. It is only the Perl version conflict.

haha, ok, unstable is worse than testing. Could that be why your
system is unstable.

You can try the latest LMS nightly, but may still have a problem still,
since Debian has not adapted glibc2.28

Not correct - it is also released in "unstable" branch as per your link.
I am running Debian 10 = Buster = sid = unstable and have received the

My earlier post was wrong: It MAY BE the Debian updates that are
breaking things, not the update to LMS 7.9.2. Debian unattended upgrades
was updating in the background. So:

- Debian unattended upgrades runs
- but _no_reboot_of_Debian_
- I disable a couple plugins (TrackStat, TrackStat Playlists, UPNP,
Entfernte Musiksammlungen) in LMS
- I stop LMS service.

Then I do:
Code:

sudo /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --d_startup

 which says:

2018-11-06 Thread Michael Herger

So it is something with the new 7.9.2 that breaks, not a Debian update.

Could you please try to run LMS manually from a shell? I believe it's
something like

sudo /usr/sbin/squeezeboxserver --d_startup

What would that give you?

What Debian version is this?

Rolled back the VM to 8 October (with LMS version Logitech Media Server
Version: 7.9.1 - 1523349116 @ Tue Apr 10 10:46:36 CEST 2018). Works.

Doing a "sudo dpkg -i logitechmediaserver_7.9.2~1541400404_amd64.deb".
Broken again:

OS update and reboot(s). LMS was at 7.9.1.something (long time no
update) and stopped working.

Subsequently updated LMS to 7.9.2 but this did not solve the issue.

Should I try to revert to an earlier snapshot of this Debian VM? We
could then try to nail down the offensive Debian update, perhaps? (I
suspect Perl of course ...)

Thanks!

I see a lot of noise in there, but nothing serious. Some plugins fail or
are mis-configured (TitleSwitcher fails, complaining about the lack of
MusicInfoSCR plugin, some RSS feed is no longer available).

These shouldn't be breaking overall functionality. But still try to get
rid of them. Then update and try latest again. Check task monitor when
it's not available, to see whether squeezesvr.exe is active.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Latest LMS nightly (10-19-18) not working - port 9000 error

2018-10-22 Thread ralphpnj

After upgrading to latest LMS using the LMS control panel I am receiving
a "cannot connect to server on port 9000" error on the "diagnostics" tab
of LMS control panel.

The upgrade causing problem: LogitechMediaServer-7.9.2-1539967036.exe
(also the previous nightly from 10-9-18 caused the same issue)

I reverted back to an earlier version of LMS, system information below:

Logitech Media Server Version: 7.9.2 - 1533033975 @ Tue Jul 31 14:08:13
WEDT 2018
Hostname: LMServer
Server IP Address: 192.168.1.122
Server HTTP Port Number: 9000
Operating system: Windows 10 - EN - cp1252
Platform Architecture: 8664
Perl Version: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread
Audio::Scan: 0.95
IO::Socket::SSL: 2.024
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1)
Total Players Recognized: 8

I also double checked all the anti-virus and firewall setting and they
are all set to allow LMS full access to port 9000, etc.

Thanks in advance for looking into this issue.
