They are not folders. They are menus based on tags in your music files.

Just in enough different ways for it to make sense.

What seems obvious to experienced users may well be perplexing to a
newcomer or someone used to a different media player. (Frankly, if I
don't do something in LMS for a while, it can seem perplexing to me, and
I've been using it for years.)

There's no need to worry. LMS hasn't created any folders or moved any
files -- the folder/file structure on your hard disk is exactly how you
made it.

What you're seeing is a list of menus -- 'views' -- of your music
files, based on their tags or other attributes that LMS can determine
(eg, how often you play things for Top/Flop tracks).

LMS enables you to browse your music in a wide variety of ways, and to
create custom menus that meet any specific needs you may have. Fwiw, the
"Music Folder" menu will let you browse the folder structure of your
music library as it exists on your hard disk, if that's the way you
prefer.

You can disable any of the existing menus that you don't want using the
interface at LMS > Settings > Player (tab) > Additional Browse Modes

Just untick the ones you don't want and click "Apply" at the bottom
right.

(NB. You won't see "Living Room" -- that's just the name I gave one of
my players -- you'll see whatever your player is called.)

Browse by Music Folder, just click on the *Menu Item*, I've circled in

How many times do you need to be told? They are not folders, they are
Menu items.

You can remove/hide some of these Menu Items by going to LMS > Settings
> Player Tab > Additional Browse Modes, and unchecking those you do not
wish to see, click "Apply" bottom right. This will also remove these
items from your PCP screen. However, you cannot change the way LMS
functions. If you don't like how LMS functions, you can always seek out
a different music server.

Good Luck.

How would you call those? Aren't they folders, which they open albums
where music themes are?

Those are the ones I want to order in a different way, so I can access
them from the PCP following my criteria.

Where are they? Who made those folders? They contain album files, so
they are folders indeed.

Where is "Browse Music Folder" so I can browse with it?

Something did create all those folders on LMS and organized the folders
and records in a certain way. I did not.

I think what you're referring to isn't "folders", but menus, or
categories in the UI. If you want to browse your music the way you
organized it on your disk, use "Browse Music Folder".

If it was not LMS, what program did that?

I assume it has to be stored in some temp file, or will it disappear
when I turn my PC off or reboot Firefox.

Where are those folders located? Can I rearrange them in a different
way?

The only thing I did, on the LMS setup, was to tell it where my Music
folder was. Inside it, the only organization I did was by artist. Inside
it other artist folder there were subfolder, the end folders being the
albums, with the themes inside.

I would like to keep that same arrangement, not the one I see on PCP
now.

The layout of the files on the source storage system has not changed.
The data from those files has been ingested by LMS and stored in a
database.
What you see when you use one of the players or the web interface to LMS
are various views on that database. You can think of them as folders if
you want but that is not the term used by the software ... unless you
click on “Music Folder”.

Some of the software allows you to move or hide menu items (those
database views).

Well, someone did. I did not.

It's on my LMS web page, so

It took out artists names, for instance, that were inside separate
folders, and organized them alphabetically in an "All artists" folder,
something I would never do.

And that's just an example.

I would prefer to do my own organization, and certainly eliminate the
ones I don't need.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Organizing folders in Logitech Media Server

2019-08-09 Thread carlmart

Is there a tutorial anywhere on how to organize the folders in LMS?

The way it automatically did in my system, just with one folder where
all my music is, is quite confusing.

It created folders with artists names and things like that, which I
really do not want, and it created a lot of folders I find useless.

There certainly is a way to manually do all this, isn't it?

Thanks!
