Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Support for Netgear ReadyNAS
I'd echo the recommendation for a Pi. I ran LMS on my ReadyNAS NV+ v2. It worked, but was never really responsive enough. The day I moved to a Pi 4, running piCorePlayer, was transformative. The interface was so much faster - almost immediate. And library scans were so quick, they're almost inconsequential. I completed my upgrade by adding a 512GB USB flash drive to the Pi, to move the library local. The end result? Awesome, reliable performance, and all for under GBP 100. Money incredibly well spent. Server: piCorePlayer 8.0.0 on Pi 4B 2GB running LMS 8.1.1, with library on local 512GB USB drive Listening on: 2 x Squeezebox Radios 8.0.1 , and direct from the Pi using a Beringer UCA202 USB audio interface AlecSp's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=42763 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=115453 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Support for Netgear ReadyNAS
Just found out that it is not supported anymore, the last version are LMS 8.0, image: logitechmediaserver-8.0.0-sparc-readynas.bin Why? It could be nice to still support this old device, if possible Or mayby I'm looking the wrong place? At some point newer versions didn't run on that device any more (I had a NV and a Duo v2 myself!). Supporting a hardware device that old really would have been a painful experience. In particular the Sparc based units were (IMHO anyway) painfully slow to use from day 1. We even modified LMS to eg. render lower quality (faster) cover art, as the device couldn't handle it... You'd be so much better served using a Pi to run LMS, serving files from your NAS. ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
