You could, if you wish, and at your own risk, of cousre, run a fsck or
chkdisk on the usb stick. Do a little research first :)

Turning the rpi of in the proper manner may help reduce the chance of
corruption but is always a good idea imo :)

I'm not sure if this is helpful, but I have used usb flashdrives, both a
128 and 256 GB, on a pi with picoreplayer for years and never had a
problem. I normally leave it on full time, but I do experience a lot
of power outages. The primary recommendation is to use a well
established brand, my preference is a Sandisk or Samsung, but there are
other good choices. If your music files will fit on a USB flash drive,
then I think it is a good solution for media storage, inexpensive,
compact and no cables.

[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] USB thumbdrive

2022-10-12 Thread dmozell

I have a raspberry 4b running picore lms. I've got a music library on a
128 thumbdrive in one of the raspberry usb ports. It's worked almost
perfectly for a few years until the library stopped being recognized. I
just recreated the library on a fresh 128 thumbdrive. I have a few
questions about this. 1) Would it be better to use a different type of
drive? 2) Could the problem have been caused by turning the raspberry
off and on? Strangely, the bad drive was still readable by a pc. Thanks.
