Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Updating LMS package on Synology to v 8.0? Is it safe?
This is good to know. Thanks for the info. The Pi4/8Gb may be a good alternative too. Or whatever is available in the future mherger wrote: > > Well maybe I should prepare for this RPI route too. Well maybe I should prepare for this RPI route too. But I don't have very high expectations about how the RPi can handle a database of 100K tracks... Well maybe I should prepare for this RPI route too. But I don't have very high expectations about how the RPi can handle a database of 100K tracks... My setup is also fairly basic - but I recently found out that I am very fond of the three plugins for Spotify, MixCloud and Bandcamp.. Don't use them too much but immediately missed them when they were gone. (Spotty most of these) T-bird wrote: > Same here, I have an very basic setup so expect it can run on this > hardware for a long time and if not I go the RPI route and use the > Synology just as an nas SlimPvC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113491 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Thanks for the reply. I managed to install the package update and it did without any problem! I was just (too) insecure - I'm not ready to part from my squeezeboxes yet ;-) SlimPvC's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=51 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113491 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Never had any problem with any packages,so I call it safe If you open the link, you see on top an link to OLD holding version back to 7.9.2 so rollback shall be easy if needed 1 x Touch 1 x Radio Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.1 - 1607087403 @ Fri Dec 4 14:26:56 CET 2020 Castbridge with 2 x Harman Kardon Citation One, setup as a stereo pair Squeeze Ctrl Squeeze Player Phone: Samsung Galaxy S 20 T-bird's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=38434 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113491 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter
[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Updating LMS package on Synology to v 8.0? Is it safe?
Since Synology, unfortunately, stopped their support for the Logitech Media Server on their NAS (like my DS218+), I'm considering to upgrade the package to the version found here: https://sourceforge.net/projects/lmsupdate/files/DSM6.x/ But I'm hesitant to upload this package: how can I roll back to the existing package is anything fails? I see no option to backup / export the original 7.9.2.package (Hyper Backup backup the data folders, application but not the packages?). Since Synology removed the package from the Beta section I will probably not be able to install it again... So I have two questions: - is it safe to simply upload the 8.0.0 x86_64 package to the Synology NAS; will it overwrite the existing package or create a new one? - what's the best way to 'roll-back' (is there a way to export or backup a single package)? Hope anyone can be of help..
