I wouldn't think so, since the same thing occurs w/LMS not running.

Ok, great, so it seems we're getting the same results now.

Wow, 10.5! I likely had no grey hairs back then. Best wishes moving
forward...

and Happy New Year.

2020-12-24 Thread Michael Herger

1. I realized how you launch LMS is irrelevant

It's relevant, isn't it?

2. I cannot get the LMS panel to appear in Dark Mode in my Catalina VM.

Same here: no dark mode in Catalina.

4. On Big Sur, so long as the LMS panel was opened directly, it will
follow the Light/Dark mode Control Center widget's setting.

Confirmed: if I launch it directly on Big Sur I'd get dark mode. That's
probably the reason why I'd only see it right after the installation.
Because then we call it directly.

I guess that after building the Mac package on a 10.5(!) for about a
decade it's time to update the binary parts. It's not high on my list,
as it'll need quite a bit of macOS development at a level I haven't done
for ahm... probably that decade :-). But I'll have to bite the bullet
anyway.

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] macOS LMS Control Panel and Dark Mode

2020-12-24 Thread MrC

More data points from my systems with 8.1.1 nightly installed:

1. I realized how you launch LMS is irrelevant
2. I cannot get the LMS panel to appear in Dark Mode in my Catalina VM.
3. On another 27" Retina iMac running Big Sur, the LMS panel follows
Dark/Light mode so long as it is launched directly (e.g. $ open
/Library/PreferencePanes/Squeezebox.prefPane).
4. On Big Sur, so long as the LMS panel was opened directly, it will
follow the Light/Dark mode Control Center widget's setting.
5. Leaving the LMS panel, going to another System Preferences panel, and
returning, LMS Panel stays in Light Mode, until it is launched again
directly.
6. On Big Sur, testing various settings under System Preferences >
General, I've failed to make the LMS panel *not* start in Dark Mode when
launched directly (so I cannot replicate your result).

I can't think of what else might be influencing our different results.

If it’s worthwhile, I’ll dig to see if I can discover anything more. I
know you start LMS manually, so perhaps there’s something in that. I
know there are bigger fish to fry. I figured it was worth the post,
since I was spooked that the update had removed my media paths! Alas,
they were just ghosts.

I lied above, slightly, not realizing it. Step 4 - I don't directly the
control panel launch as I mentioned, I use Alfred (Cmd-Space, "lms").
You can get the same result using Spotlight.

I did just install the latest nightly, but I may know what's different
between our outcomes.

Nothing special, it just worked (mostly).

1. Set Dark Mode in System Preferences.
2. Quit System Preferences
3. Launch System Preferences
4. Go to System Preferences > Logitech Media Server

I've restarted the PrefPane dozens of times, as I've been installing Big
Sur from the early betas to production. Did many updates (which would
all cause a PrefPane restart, of course). But as I said: I've only ever
seen it in dark mode right after the installation

Are you using an M1 system, or an "old" Intel based Mac?

1. Set Dark Mode in System Preferences.
2. Quit System Preferences
3. Launch System Preferences
4. Go to System Preferences > Logitech Media Server

If you don't quit System Preferences, then the panel may not change
colors.

There's an issue with the Media Folders list when using Dark Mode on
macOS. The pane is the wrong color, so items do not appear.
