More like having a radio by my bed. What I like about the radio was looking at it will cover regular radio etc. My LMS has my audiobooks on. In these troubled times lots of listening to do. There are people here with the skills to almost certainly resurrect your SB Radio (or help you bring it back it life yourself). As you have seen, LMS can indeed act as a UPnP server. I suspect that you would find the menu system more difficult to navigate from a UPnP device but you would still be able to use the LMS web interface or other controllers. How about a Chromecast or AirPlay device (even just as an audio adapter to a hifi)? They can also be linked to LMS (via Plugins) and work pretty well.
