Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS killed my Jogglers!
Something like 'this' (https://www.yoctopuce.com/EN/products/extensions-and-networking/micro-usb-hub-v2) ought to fit inside I would have thought. Ok, so it would need a bit of soldering to attach USB sockets to those 4-pin headers, but it does look very compact. Not sure about a hub but it's quite roomy, the wifi card is significantly bigger than most USB sticks. I did originally consider a hub so I could use a USB DAC and memory stick but ended up doing a mod to add a toslink port for connection to a DAC instead. jimbobvfr400's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=56857 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=113859 ___ Squeezecenter mailing list Squeezecenter@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/squeezecenter

Running Jivelite internal. Will give it a test but at the moment it seems OK in that I can skip forward 10 or more tracks without a crash. Thanks for the heads up! SqueezePlay for OpenFrame V7.8 from Birds Like Wires. Ubuntu Bionic Kernel 5.4. LMS 8.1.1 I am now running it on a USB stick and it is more stable in that it only crashes to the command prompt rather than corrupt the internal. If you enable the "What was that song?" plugin then LMS will keep a record for you of which songs were played ... so you might then find that the last one listed is the one causing the problem. I think you are on the right lines there Paul. One Joggler was running Random Song Mix so different artwork with each track, and it consistently failed trying to open the fourth track. The other Joggler was streaming Greatest Hits Radio so the station logo did not change but the artist and song titles did. That one would stay working for over an hour before crashing as the buffer presumably filled up a lot slower? I redeployed my RPi from LMS to Pi-Hole and Unifi Controller duties and as I have an 'always on' PC for security cameras and Emby media server it seemed to make sense. Been running 24 hours now with no problems. Both Jogglers are running as controllers rather than players. As I earlier suspected the problem seems to be on LMS for Windows and I guess most Joggler users, being gadget's, use Linux. OK, an hour in and both Jogglers are working fine with the V8.1.1 14th Jan release. Looks like V8.1.2 is rogue. Find it hard to grasp that a version of LMS can reap such devastation on the Jogglers. I first saw the problem with LogitechMediaServer-8.1.2-167469 so happened between that and 8.1.0. Only release inbetween was 8.1.1 on 14th January. Until someone figures out the problem I will stick with the current version as my Jogglers memory chips have taken quite a hammering. I am curious why no one else has seen it, presumably all running LMS on a RPi? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS killed my Jogglers!
This https://github.com/Logitech/slimserver/commit/fc42e0f1a87ba5c2d1e4db3e3654c26fc0bb94ed from Jan 24th (and previous from Jan 23rd) was the specific Joggler induced change. Since your Joggler is working with a version of 8.1.1 that is older than that then it means that your JiveLite/SqueezePlay is more recent than 7.8.0 so ... I think ... that means that this particular change is not the cause of the problem. There are more recent builds of 8.1.1 that yours from December so perhaps you could run with an up-to-date 8.1.1 and see if the problem returns. Still difficult to understand what is causing it though. Perhaps something is making Jivelite run out of memory or use up all file handles and somehow this causes a problem in the OS which then results in a currupted file system ... but I would not expect that an application like Jivelite should be able to corrupt things that badly. Running LMS Version: 8.1.1 - 1609139162 from Dec 28th and everything is working properly although I am now having to re-flash one of the Jogglers as I can't get into 'Now Playing'. Looks like whatever was inroduced between 8.1.1 and 8.1.2 caused a catastrophic crash. If others are not reporting a problem maybe it only affects the Windows versions? Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] LMS killed my Jogglers!
One recent Joggler specific (or really SqueezePlay specific) change was to report to the Joggler an old LMS version if the SqueezePlay version number was old. This was to allow Jogglers running old BirdLikeWires builds to connect to LMS 8 without having to patch/replace software on the Joggler. You could revert to an older LMS and see if your problem stops happening.
