It seems that the playlist issue also applies to CUE files.

Can you elaborate?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scan taking hours instead of minutes on recent nightlies

2020-10-03 Thread Eric Seaberg

Michael, I'm wondering if something changed in 7.9.3 as well? After all
the issues I went through with Catalina on Mac MINI, I reverted back to
High Sierra from a TimeMachine backup, but installed 7.9.3 and did a
complete rescan. NO iTUNES, just my audio drives. There's a little
over 40,000 songs and it took almost 2.5 hours to complete the scan.
When I've done it before, a new rescan would take 5-10 minutes at the
most.

I most likely had a 'nightly' in the TimeMachine restore but wouldn't
know which one. TimeMachine date was Sept 9, and I'm usually pretty
good about keeping up with the nightlies if that gives you an idea.

Thanks again for all of the help. I'm stable again and will avoid
upgrading the OS for a while.

yes, will send over.

Looking at the error, anything to do with possibly saving youtube in a
playlist?

Code:

youtube://

I notice there's a LEFT JOIN that is truncating/replacing file:// and
%20 stuff.

Searching from the top search box doesn't bring up anything in
playlists. (top pic below)

Searching by clicking on the spyglass brings up playlists that contain
the search criteria, I'm not sure I see the value in that. But then it
wasn't me who asked for "search within playlists". :D

No better I'm afraid.

This sucks. I'm using the same SQLite version as you, and I can run
those queries on your library just fine. I'll give it another try in a
build later today. I'm wondering whether I'm missing something here. The
log file seems to indicate there's a problem with a string in the query.
But as I said: I don't see this issue with your library :-(.

Thanks for testing!

I assume that's 583KB, not 583'000 tracks?...

to files that may no longer exist. As far as length, some playlists
over 8 hours or so if you are talking about length. I have 130 playlsts
right now, but nothing changed since maybe 3 months ago as far as new
playlists.

FTS did change. I broke it at some point in the past: it wouldn't index
tracks in a playlist any more. Now that I've fixed this, users with
large playlists are suffering the issues you're seeing, as something
about the indexing is super busy.

No iTunes, running on an odroid ubuntu where playlists and music are on
NAS storage.

to files that may no longer exist. As far as length, some playlists

I did notice a had a video file in my playlist folder, not sure if that
has anything to do with it, I removed it from there and rerunning a scan
now..seems to be stuck there still anyway.

So yeah, it's stuck at the same place again. Hmm... and I wouldn't know

In order to disable FTS again find plugin/state.prefs inside your prefs

"disabled", restart LMS.

Restarted LMS a couple of times from the pCP ui, rebooted the Pi, still
can't get into LMS or it's settings.

As always: check the server.log. It might give you a hint. Eg. LMS might
be trying to re-build the FTS as it didn't get created in the previous scan.

I enabled logging for -(scan) - All scan logging-, was prompted to
restart LMS.

Enabled FST (which I'd disabled last night), prompted to restart LMS, I
now can't get into LMS settings to start a scan, or to view progress if
already started.

According to pCP webgui LMS is running but I just get "This site can't
be reached" for LMS or it's settings.

Restarted LMS a couple of times from the pCP ui, rebooted the Pi, still
can't get into LMS or it's settings.

I've pulled the plug on the Pi.

Scanner was busy, or at least the time was still incrementing as in the
pic below (taken from a previous non-terminating scan).

Which of these scan items should I enable?

And please share a library.db with the FTS enabled with me.

From what I can see your playlists don't look crazy large. LMS should
be able to handle these with FTS. When it crashed, was the scanner still
busy (taking a very long time to finish) using the CPU? Or did it exit
prematurely?

That's because the playlist indexing was broken before that. Broken as
in not working at all. Now it's broken as in "too slow under certain
circumstances"...

Thanks for the file. I'll look into it.

Logitech Media Server Version: 8.0.0 - 1600604030 @ Sun Sep 20 14:55:17

IO::Socket::SSL: 2.060
Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.58 (sqlite 3.22.0)
Total Players Recognized: 4

Re-installed FTS, ran a clear and rescan, scan got stuck on FST
playlists, after about 15 minutes it crashed the Pi, (Pi4/4GB) knocked
it off the network.

This has always worked fine up until the last couple of nightlies.

25 playlists, 2 about 500/600 tracks, the rest all less than 100 tracks.

Nothing in the server logs from before my reboot of the Pi.

Uninstalled FTS, running full scan ATM.

Ok, maybe the solution is quite simple: in the iTunes settings in LMS,
please add "Downloaded" to the list of "Ignored playlists". Then re-run
a scan. This should skip the playlist with the 40k tracks, considerably
speeding up the Fulltext Index creation.

Done. I've added the library.db file as well in case it's important they
both match, as I added some more music yesterday.

2020-09-14 Thread Michael Herger

Actually, I've found the playlist with the entire library in it. It's
the one titled 'Downloaded :iTunes' which isn't visible in iTunes and
I've never noticed before as I mainly use the 'Not Played For Ages' and
'Never Played' ones. Should I delete it in LMS and see what happens?

It'll be re-imported. We do have a condition in the importer to exclude
an "all tracks" playlist that must have existed at some point. But that
might have changed over time. Would you mind sharing your iTunes
Library.xml file (or similar) with me?

https://www.dropbox.com/request/T3RctyzGgNg0oFDubq6a

I've also installed the most recent nightly but turned off the full text
search plugin as that restores the scan duration to the normal few
minutes and by reverting to the simple title search.

That's always an option of course. But I'd like to understand the issue
in order to prevent this surprise for other users. Thanks for helping me
out so far!

Now I check, I see 23 in the playlists menu. LMS library stats say:

Total Images: 0
Total Videos: 0
Total Tracks: 40,795
Total Albums: 3,374
Total Artists: 1,620
Total Genres: 56
Total Playlists: 23

but the scan details says:

iTunes Playlist Import (31 of 31)

So I don't know where the other eight are!

I've found where the full text search plugin lives and am happy to edit
the .pm file if there are changes you'd like me to make. I've done that
with several of the third party plugins to update them, so if that's the
level of tinkering needed, I'm sure I can handle that.

Mildly technical from a software perspective - what would I need to do?
If you can point me to some general guidance I can see if I'm
comfortable with it. I can follow instructions, and do spend time
tinkering with Python and assorted Raspberry Pi hardware and software,
but might not have the time to try too many new things.
In the meantime, I'll revert to the version before you made the changes
because it makes life simpler.

Thanks,

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scan taking hours instead of minutes on recent nightlies

2020-09-12 Thread Michael Herger

I've done that, Michael, but don't see much in the scanner log (below)

I see this:

[20-09-12 07:52:49.4831]
Slim::Plugin::FullTextSearch::Plugin::_rebuildIndex (488) Create
fulltext index for playlists
[20-09-12 11:10:59.3181]
Slim::Plugin::FullTextSearch::Plugin::_rebuildIndex (503) Optimize
fulltext index

Which tells me that most of the time indeed is spent in the playlist
processing, which I fixed a few days ago. Previously it wouldn't include
track information in the playlist index. While I do understand that it's
taking longer now, I need to investigate why it would take _that_ much
longer...

How technical would you be? I don't have playlists that large to test
with. If I posted a change, would you be able to apply the code change
to re-test with your collection (probably won't happen over the weekend)?

Thanks Michael,

Yes - it finishes successfully. I ran the scan a second time in case it
was one of those things that takes ages the first time and then is
faster subsequently, but it makes no difference to the scan time. The
scan information for that second scan says:

iTunes Import (40885 of 40885) Complete 00:01:42

iTunes Playlist Import (31 of 31) Complete 00:02:24

Building full text index (7 of 7) Complete 02:40:39

Create library views (5 of 5) Complete 00:00:01

Find updated coverart files (1549 of 1549) Complete 00:00:01

Database Optimize (2 of 2) Complete 00:00:05

The server has finished scanning your media library.
Total Time: 02:44:52 (Friday, September 11, 2020 / 6:54 PM)

I'd normally see the full text index taking less than a minute to
complete, and the whole scan just over four minutes.

Those 31 playlists vary in size, but the biggest of them is 3,800 items.
The next biggest is 1500.

Does that give you any clues as to what's changed?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Scan taking hours instead of minutes on recent nightlies

2020-09-11 Thread Michael Herger

I'm seeing a consistent change in scanning in the most recent nightlies.
LogitechMediaServer-8.0.0-1599321733 (from September 6th) completes
scans within minutes as normal, but all the nightlies after that take
several hours to scan. The logjam is in the Albums section (2 of 7) of
the 'Building full text index' stage of the scan. That used to take 40
seconds or so, but now takes just short of three hours. I can't see
anything odd in the logs - it just runs really slowly through that
stage, with the rest of the scan happening at the same speed as normal.

But does it finish successfully? Would you have many playlists, or large
playlists?
