[SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Rescan doesn't update certain fields
I have noticed this "issue" for many months but have been too lazy to report it until today. I am running Logitech Media Server Version: 8.2.0 - 1627922070. After adding new media to my LMS, I have found that it is sometimes impossible to update certain fields. For example, if I add an album with the wrong Year and then try to change the year (by changing the media's Mp3 tags) and then rescan (via the LMS web interface), the year is still shown with the wrong value. I have tried changing other fields such as the artist name and moving the media to a different folder, in order to try and get the change noticed, but nothing seems to work. I am pretty certain that if I delete the complete database and rescan everything, the year will be updated. But I would prefer not to do that each time I make a mistake with the metadata (which is quite often) since it takes a few hours to scan my extensive media library. It's not just the Year field that doesn't seem to update. Album Artist behaves in the save way, but Track Artist changes as expected. Is there perhaps a way for a user to initiate a deeper scan on selected folders? I removed the sentined file and the album reappears with the wrong year. I suspect that would work, but have not tried it. LMS 8 nightly running on Raspberry Pi OS. Mostly virtual players, occasionally with SB Radio, Boom or Classic. In my case what appeared in mp3tag as a single YEAR tag with duplicate values (separated by ;) was in fact two YEAR tags. I only found them by looking at the extended tags. I deleted the offending tags, rescanned, and was happy with the results. I use Mp3tag for modifying tags and I have checked very carefully to make sure there are no additional tags which might be clashing with the expected year tag. What I'll do next is delete the database and rescan the entire library and see what happens. I'll report back tomorrow. As @GaryM says, but start LMS (you might want to install the current 8.2 version) and go into LMS Settings rather than using the Control Panel. Depending on the skin you use the music folder is specified either on the Basic Settings tab (Default skin) or Settings -> Server -> about half way down the page (Material skin) or Settings -> Server Settings -> Folder (Classic skin). The Control panel in windows does like to grieve you from time to time.
