RE: [ssh]: Subject emails
Not everyone here uses procmail, in fact, some of us are stuck with Outlook. Outlook doesn't have such functionality. I create rules to move e-mails from the SSH mailing list to another folder, but this doesn't always work based upon the 'to: ' field when it's set to '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' because some people create local aliases for the mailing list, so I still end up moving half of the SSH mailing list e-mail by hand. -Ray | -Original Message- | From: R P Herrold [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]] | Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2001 7:56 PM | To: Abdul Rasheed Tamton | Cc: J Grant; [EMAIL PROTECTED] | Subject: [ssh]: Subject emails | | | On Sat, 11 Aug 2001, Abdul Rasheed Tamton wrote: | | I think it is a genuine suggestion and very appropriate one. | | As may be, but isn't it simpler to use procamil locally, and | do whatever you wish ... Offtopic, yes, but I was wondering if he gets paid for this 6 month paternity leave, and if so maybe this is something I should negotiate with H.R. With outlook, filter on Sender: [EMAIL PROTECTED] as any text in the header if you want to catch list traffic. Or whatever the securityfocus header would be. Works just fine for me. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]]On Behalf Of Sundland, Raymond Sent: Monday, August 13, 2001 9:36 AM To: 'R P Herrold'; Abdul Rasheed Tamton Cc: J Grant; [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: RE: [ssh]: Subject emails Not everyone here uses procmail, in fact, some of us are stuck with Outlook. this can be configured with topica.com or yahoogroups.com but this list is majordomo is it? Hello all, I agree ! I use this scheme for the Firewall-one mailling list ([FW1] in the subject), and it work perfectly. Why don't we use this simple trick ? Have a nice day, Bye J Grant wrote: Hello I think it is better if i just add [ssh]: to every email i attempt to send to this list, (along with changing the reply address to [EMAIL PROTECTED], nearly made the same mistake of replying to myself with this email!) I dont mean to create another long thread that is not SSH related but does everyone else get 2 bounced emails every time they post to the list? This is a request, i have only just joined so I dont want to sound authoritive. There are at least three other headers to filter/sort with. If/when the list is moved to ssh.com it may even gain more headers. Almost every modern mail reader can trivially filter and/or sort on any of the already available headers. If yours can't it's high time you upgraded to something that can. There's absolutely no need to have the MLM software pollute a sender-defined header with redundant information that only gets in the way and takes up valuable space. -- Greg A.
