In an effort to troubleshoot another issue I have posted, I spun up an old
virtual machine that had some older firmware on it. However, I have forgotten
the admin password to the old machine. Can someone please direct me as to how I
can reset the admin password? Thank you.

[SunRay-Users] USB Keyboard stops working on any new Sunray P8-270

2015-09-01 Thread Pelletier, Robert
I have one station location where the USB keyboard just stops working after a
period of time. I am now on my third SunRay P8-270 and every one of them is
doing the same thing. None of the others I have had plugged in for some time
are doing this. They are all setup the same way, and are basically just acting
like web kiosks. I am on firmware 11.1.2.0_21_2013.06.26.12.35 and I am unable
to update it because I no longer have a contract and have no intention of
renewing it. I think the only difference between these machines and the others
is that the others had previously had an older firmware version and the ones
that don’t work went directly from the shipped firmware to the above version.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is causing this problem?

I appreciate any assistance.

Re: [SunRay-Users] VNC for Sunray Sessions (x11vnc, tightvncserver, etc.)

2014-08-18 Thread Pelletier, Robert
Thank You. Another questions regarding meta-kiosk. If I wanted to use it to
just run a bash script in a similar manner to using Generic Xsession, would
there be a way to go about doing that?

I am thinking I can do this with APPLICATION, but would love to have input from
the developer

(I wrote it) and as far as I remember, it run's on either. It is just a bash
script after all. Try it and perhaps adjust where required.

Good luck!

Yeah there is a VNC client that is wrapped by meta kiosk very simply. You
then define what kiosk session to invoke by parameters in the token.

My guess would be that no window manager is running. Many modern applications,
including Firefox, does not work correctly without a WM. Try starting a
lightweight WM such as OpenBox. (In ThinLinc, we are shipping OpenBox and a
custom configuration suitable for running single applications.)

[SunRay-Users] Sun Ray Kiosk Using Opera Not opening to full screen

2014-07-17 Thread Pelletier, Robert
I am trying to make a web kiosk using opera, but when opera opens in the SunRay
it is only taking up about ¾ of the screen even using the -k switch. I also
tried using the -geometry switch with the same results.

I was able to get around this problem with Firefox using an addon, but Firefox
had other problems that I could not get around (CSS dropdowns within web pages
did not function at all)

Has anyone else had experience with this?

I am using older firmware 4.2_17_2009.06.24.11.48 with a SunRayP8-270. We know
longer have a contract with Sun so I am unable to get any newer firmware than
this.

Thank you for your reply. I had tried several variations of using utadm without
success, but I was finally able to find the correct process that worked more or
less without incident.

For those that happen upon this thread first do utconfig -u then utadm -r, next
make sure your hostname and ip address have been changed in all the appropriate
places for your distro, then reboot.
Now run utadm -a and utconfig. This worked for me.

2014-04-25 Thread Pelletier, Robert
I am a total NOOB to the Sun Rays so please be patient with me.

I have configured Kiosk mode for the Sun Rays but they keep coming up to the
screen sun ray mobile session login.

I want to Sun Ray to go directly into the kiosk session without login. How do I
configure this?

Thank you so much for your assistance

Re: [SunRay-Users] Disable sun ray mobile session login

Thanks a lot for the response, but I finally figured it out. I had to uncheck
Mobile Sessions from the Non-Card Users Section in System Policy and that did
what I wanted. Thank you though.

I have another question I will post to the forum regarding resolution.

[SunRay-Users] Sun Ray Kiosk Resolution Off

2014-04-25 Thread Pelletier, Robert
When I boot into a Sun Ray Kiosk session I have an opera browser loading up in
Kiosk mode. I am using the Kiosk-Generic-Session-0.3.zip template with
/usr/bin/opera -kioskmode in the argument. However, when it open in the Kiosk
session it only takes up a portion of the screen. What can I do to fix this
problem. Thank you.
