Secure Connection Failed

2010-06-02 Thread Lee
Is there any way to get past this problem:

Secure Connection Failed

An error occurred during a connection to xx.xx.xx.xx:nnn.

SSL peer reports incorrect Message Authentication Code.

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_mac_alert)

* The page you are trying to view can not be shown because the
authenticity of the received data could not be verified.

* Please contact the web site owners to inform them of this
problem. Alternatively, use the command found in the help menu to
report this broken site.

and SeaMonkey refuses to connect to the web server.

For whatever it's worth, this is at work, IE makes the connection

certificates/certificate servers have been added to IE.

Access your password manager, click on show passwords, you will see
the list with the column headers - Site Username Password - clicking on
any one of the headers will sort the list alphabetically.

Apart from this (in my 2.04 SeaMonkey) when managing password there is
a search
facility.
Very handy.

That's great news!

I can't get Jay's sort to work, however Bernard search is very helpful.

Error message when sending mail and problem with dialog boxes]

2010-06-02 Thread Joyce Stilwell

Hi,

I have just downloaded the new version of Seamonkey. When I try to send mail I
get the following message -

Sending of message failed.
An error occurred sending mail: Unable to authenticate to SMTP server
smtp.talktalk.net. It does not support authentication (SMTP-AUTH) but
you have chosen to use authentication. Uncheck 'Use name and password'
for that server or contact your service provider.

I can't find the Use name and password checkbox - can you please tell me how I get to it? I don't see it in mail and newsgroups account settings
in the edit menu, and I've contacted my service provider, but they don't support Seamonkey and can't help.

Also, how do I import all my mail and settings from Thunderbird? I have run the mail and newsgroups account settings option in the edit menu,
and it says that import was successful, but nothing has happened.

Lastly, when I open a dialog box, like the mail and newsgroups account settings box, it briefly appears, then disappears, but when I try to
click on any other option or command, the dialog box pops up again and chimes as though I've tried to move away from it without closing it.

Thanks and regards,

Joyce

If they are truly duplicates -- identical for both site URI, user ID and
password -- yes, you may delete the excess entries.

Normally, you cannot actually have two entries with the same site URI
and user ID but with different passwords. If you find such an entry, be
sure to delete the one with the WRONG password.

From my own experience, certain sites cause duplicate entries. These
generally involve having form inputs and login inputs both on the same
Web page. The next time I observe this, I might submit a bug report.

I see you are using Mozilla suite 1.7.8. The SeaMonkey password manager
prior to 2.0 (we now use the Firefox password manager) had a bug that
allowed the entry of duplicates. The problem with this bug is that it
might prevent you from removing duplicates. It might appear to work but
if you close and reopen the password manager window they will come back.

I found that I needed to shut down the Suite and edit the password file
directly (not for the faint of heart).
