I assume SM looks in the web page - is there a meta tag or what?

It looks in the URL for favicon.ico.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=favicon

Thanks Ed, is lmgtfy.com your web site ?-) pretty cute.

Does favicon.ico just have to BE there
as in http://lmgtfy.com/favicon.ico

or must it be referenced in the html code?
e.g. link rel=shortcut icon type=image/x-icon
  href=http://boltonpubliclibrary.org/favicon.ico; /

or does that depend upon the user asking for search aggessively...?

Re: [SM 2.0.5, Linux Mint 9] Can't change/select helper app for .pdf link in html format email

2010-07-20 Thread Daniel

Rob Lindauer wrote:

This is probably an operator headspace problem, but perhaps someone here
can help me...

I have received an html format email from someone that includes a
reference to a pdf file,
http://www.adventurecycling.org/resources/201002_GoingDutch_Pengilly.pdf.

The problem is that when I click the file, I always get a ClamAV scan,
with no prompt to select another action.

I've looked at the message source; The URL above seems just to be
inserted into a block of plain text. SM does recognize it as a URL,
though; the formatted display shows the URL as a hyperlink.

There are other similar URLs (pdf files) in the same message, but in the
other cases, Document Viewer opens when I click the link (again with no
prompt for another choice of action). In those cases the URLs are again
just inserted in a block of plain text.

I've looked in the list of SM browser helper applications; I see two
entries for PDF files, both invoking Document Viewer. (Of course, I
don't know if helper applications are even relevant to HTML format
emails.) I've also checked Nautilus' settings, which point to Document
Viewer (but that's probably irrelevant too).

So... Can you suggest what I should look at to figure out why this
particular pdf file is triggering ClamAV rather than triggering Document
Viewer? Is there a way for me to change / update the association that's
being used to always ask or always use Document Viewer?

Thanks!

O.K., I'll ask the obvious question. Does ClamAV find anything to worry
about??

Most of the time I want E-mail to auto-open when I select Seamonkey

Are your mails SO importants that you need to know about in less than 3
minutes ? If yes - use msn or a similar product.

SM preferences not obeying...

2010-07-20 Thread Keith Whaley
I have set my SM 1.1.18 (Mac) preferences to only display fonts in character
encoding Unicode (UTF-8).
Instead, it still insists on frequently moving over to Western (ISO-8859-1),
which doesn’t handle punctuation correctly.

Does anyone know why the user settings are ignored?

I‘ve tried restarting, rebooting, etc. Doesn’t seem to help.

Thanks,

keith whaley

The Agressively look for website icons when the page does not define
one option activates searching for favicon.ico in the web site root.
Without it, favicon loading is only triggered by an HTML head link
directive (as in your example).

Here's the link to what I'm referring to.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1553/

I installed it (with active compatibility override) and found that it
doesn't support SeaMonkey, not even by accident. It doesn't integrate
into the Tools menu, Bookmark Manager or any other place. Even the
buttons in the broken options dialog that you can access from the Add-on
Manager don't work. That's not really surprising because Firefox's user
interface is quite different.

In other words: This extensions would need several changes to be made
compatible with SeaMonkey.

Per example go to http://www.html-kit.com/favicon/
Upload your prefered picture ... then click on the image Use this
image this will modify the current page where you can click on
Download FavIcon Package a zip file containing

1. a favicon.gif (your picture in favicon format animated)
2. a favicon.ico (your picture in favicon format not animated)
3. a ReadMe.txt containing instructions to modify your website page
like you will animated or not.

The file is fine (Bitdefender for Unices). My guess is that you have
ClamAV set to scan urls PDFs.

Try the manuals:
http://www.clamav.net/doc/latest/
http://www.clamav.net/doc/latest/clamdoc.pdf

Heads up if you are using any version below 0.96.1:
