Can't scroll down without logging into Facebook?

Hello.

Does anyone know why scrolling down doesn't work on

(SeaMonkey v2.13.1 and IceWeasel/Firefox v16.0.1)? Using the fake IE9

Interviewed by CNN on 17/10/2012 16:15, Not@home told the world:

I've been very happy using SeaMonkey on my Windows based machines for years.

Now I've obtained a smart phone, primarily for internet access using 3G
or 4G when I am traveling. It runs on Android. The clerk at the store
said it would run any browser, but when I went to the SeaMonkey site, I
could find only versions for windows or linux. Is there some way I can
get this phone to run SeaMonkey? They keep talking about Apps, but as I
have aged I have not kept up with technology, and don't even know what
those are.

The short of it is: the clerk lied.

There are indeed several browsers for Android, but not all of them. Just
to stay on the Big Five, Internet Explorer and Safari are not available
for Android and probably never will be, since Microsoft and Apple prefer
pushing their own platforms. Chrome is, but only if you have a phone
running a recent version of Android (4.0 or greater). Even Firefox won't
run in the very cheapest phones.

Android comes with a Webkit-based browser -- a ho-hum one called just
Browser in most versions, and a version of Google Chrome in the most
recent releases. Most other browsers for Android are also Webkit-based,
like the rather good Dolphin Browser, and most leverage the built-in
Webkit engine.

Firefox and Opera, however, have their own engines (Gecko for Firefox,
Presto for Opera), with all the pluses and minus that it entails.

The closest thing to Seamonkey that you can currently get for Android
would be Firefox. It uses the same rendering engine (Gecko) and has the
ability to synchronize bookmarks, history, passwords and such between
mobile and desktop browser (either Firefox or Seamonkey), using the
Firefox Sync service. But it does not include a mail/news reader; you
have to rely on other Android apps for those.

but I think the SeaMonkey Council is working on a 'phone version!

I tried Firefox and TBird without SM running. Same issue.

Yes, tried them all in Safe Mode.

Tried them all with all extensions and add ons disabled.

Sorry, no glee.

When the mailnews program in SM is running? Mem usage skyrockets, the
whole program hangs for 5, 10, 20 seconds. I watch Task Manager and,
yeah, SM sktyockets in CPU usage.

Yep, just now, was typing and SM hung. It buffered my keystrokes and
suddenly exposed them. Still, unacceptable.

This has been going on for about a year or so.

Ed, I have a similar problem. On certain binary newsgroups, where there
is a large number of new messages, SM hangs on getting them. finally, I
get a message on how many headers I want to download. While the system
is working to get to that point, I may see program not responding and
one or both windows (browser mail/news) may disappear from the task
bar. When the system recovers, the windows may still be gone or just the
mail/news window will show on the task bar. I can still go up to the
tool bar and under Window click to get back to the missing window which
usually reappears on the task bar.

I am running Win XP Media Center with SP3, 2Gb Ram with plenty of HD
space. CPU is an Athlon 64 X2 4600+.

This has been a problem for me going back to 1.x.

Win 7 Pro. I also get the Windows message not responding in the SM
title bar. Sometimes the program's window will go blank and then
refresh. Happens in mail and news. Actually, even if I'm using the
browser with mail/news in the background the browser will freeze. I've
started just the browser, no mail/news, and sat there for several
minutes actively scrolling, opening and closing tabs/sites and as long
as mail/news is not open it's fine.

I'll have to try opening both then closing mail/news and test in that case.

Works for me with Flash turned off and WebM[1] turned on.

User agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux i686; rv:16.0) Gecko/20121011
Firefox/16.0 SeaMonkey/2.13.1
Build identifier: 20121011090043

[1] I was lambasted (correctly) in referring to WebM (which both those
links provide) as HTML5 in my Turn Off HTML5? thread. The hierarchy,
as I now think I understand it, is:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5
HTML5 is a markup language for structuring and presenting content for
the World Wide Web, and is a core technology of the Internet originally
proposed by Opera Software.[2] It is the fifth revision of the HTML
standard (created in 1990 and standardized as HTML4 as of 1997)[3] and,
as of October 2012, is still under development. Its core aims have been
to improve the language with support for the latest multimedia while
keeping it easily readable by humans and consistently understood by
computers and devices (web browsers, parsers, etc.). HTML5 is intended
to subsume not only HTML 4, but XHTML 1 and DOM Level 2 HTML as well.[3]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HTML5_video
The HTML5 draft specification introduced the video element for the
purpose of playing videos or movies,[1] partially replacing the object
element. HTML5 video is intended by its creators to become the new
standard way to show video on the web without plugins, but has been
hampered by lack of agreement as to which video formats should be
supported in web browsers.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/WebM
WebM is an audio-video format designed to provide royalty-free, open
video compression for use with HTML5 video. The project's development is
sponsored by Google Inc.
